body care: how often do you...

shower, shave, pluck/wax brows, etc, paint your nails, put on make-up, etc? I'm 2 weeks postpartum so i don't have a lot of time for the above, and i know it's temporary--but, then again, i found that i while i like to look decent that i don't keep up with this cr@p the way that many women do. I love getting my hair cut, etc, but it's hard to find time and energy, kwim?

Before dd:
shower--once every morning
shave--depends on season--not as often as i did before ds, then it was every day if i was wearing shorts. Now maybe once a week or so?
brows--i never pluck, i hate to, i wax maybe twice a year--they're wild, too, lol.
paint nails--whenever the paint on my toes gets chipped and looking bad, i'll repaint them.
hair cut--once every 2-3 months. After i had ds though i went for a good 9 months before doing anything at one point.

shower-- few times a week
shave-- never
pluck/wax brows-- never
paint nails-- never
put on make-up-- never
hair cut-- never

Before dd, I showered more often. That's the only difference.

It's a good day if I take a shower.

shower every morning and sometimes at night too, especially in the summer.

just started waxing my eyebrows and I will probably do it every 6 weeks or so along with getting my hair cut. I used to go every 6-8 months but I am growing out my hair after having it cut short, so if I don't cut it it ends up lookign horrible. I rarely paint my nails/toe nails and the only makeup I wear is mascara.

Mamaley....you are hilarious! My BC (before children) and AC (after children) self care is markedly different! I am very conscientious to try to look my best....I figure if I look my best, it will improve my mental state and I'll feel better too. I never used to "take care" of myself, but I actually do now more than when I was footless and kid free.
I am a BIG advocate on woman taking time for themselves. If you do not take care of yourself, who'll be there for the kids? A strong healthy mom/wife equals a strong healthy family unit.

I shower every day, sometimes at night for a faster getaway in the morning. My hair gets round brushed and blow dried every morning along with makeup everyday. I'm a little prissy. Honestly, I feel better and more confident when I know I look nice. I shave my legs a few times a week, armpits when they get tooooo long. I am blessed with almost perfect eyebrows so I only tweeze when I've been around my sister too long. She has a tweezer problem and it rubs off. I cut my nails down about once a week, they grow too fast. I remember when that wasn't a problem. But with a little guy we are always at the park or playing dough and they get in the way. My toes are always perfectly painted, because I never wear shoes and hate the look of unpainted toes. I am trying to do things in my life more simply, but the things I do just for me will probably always be the same.

Hoping you mean foot LOOSE!

I believe I am strong and healthy, and I think I look my best when I am natural. I take care of myself by eating organic food and avoiding putting chemicals on my skin.

*shower-- once/day when its hot (2/3 of year), every other day during the winter months; relaxing bath 2x/wk in winter
*shave-- legs every other day, armpits never
*pluck/wax brows-- wax every five weeks, pluck in between
*paint nails-- finger nails never, toenails every other week (although I don't do it now that I'm pregnant)
*put on make-up-- never
*hair cut-- it used to be never, but I just cut is short this summer so every 8 weeks; I never blow it dry

shower--never - I always take a bath. And always at night, so dh is home to take care of the lil' ones.
shave--when it feels yucky.
brows--hmmm... once every 6 months? When I notice it!
paint nails--Never. Can't stand the smell of the remover. I know there are "natural" alternatives, but I'm just too lazy to really investigate them.
hair cut--Once every 2-3 months. This to me is key to looking and feeling great. I don't blow-dry my hair but my stylist is great with giving me a cut that suits me and looks great styled or totally natural and "bed-head-y".
make-up: Every day. Just a little mascara, maybe eyeliner and a tinted chapstick. Makes me feel marvellous, well-groomed and ready for anything the world might throw my way!

Warmly,
Michelle in NY - mama to sweet ds (5) and dd (16 months)

I am pretty low maintenance, but here it goes:

Shower-1x/day
Shave-1x/week (pits, legs grow looong in the winter)
pluck-1x/week
Paint nails-toenails only, really-and MAYBE 1x/every 2 months
haircut-1x/every 7 or 8 weeks.

I just LOVE getting my haircut. I've been getting it done at the same place for years and I really, really look forward to getting it done. I get to have a cup of coffee and sit in a chair a chat for about an hour. Just heaven!

I'm pretty low-maintenence. I eat healthy, exercise daily, and practice yoga...this is my "body care".

Shower: every day, or I feel yucka. I have really oily hair, so I look like a big greasemonkey if I don't.

Shave: about every 2-3 months, or when I have to go to a wedding/party and wear a dressy dress.

Pluck: I have never plucked a hair from my body, nor has anyone else! I have small neat brows that never need plucking.

Make-up: Hardly ever...maybe when I am going somewhere really nice with all the women relatives (baby shower, luncheon, etc) But dh hates it when I wear makeup, and it makes my super sensitive skin break out. (I just touch my skin and get a little pink spot!)

Hair cut: when my ends get so yucky, I can't stand it anymore; usually about 3-4 months. It always feels sooooo good when I do it, though! And I think, "Why didn't I do that MONTHS ago?!?!"

Shower-1-3x/day
Shave-1x/week, sometimes twice
pluck- never often enough. I should get em waxed but can't find time
nails- toes once every few months on a whim. fingers are cut short and I slap a clear coat on just often enough to make my nails shred when it peels off. :
haircut- every year or two

I shower every other day if I'm lucky. I need to shower 2x a day because I stink when I'm pg!

I shave when my leg hair gets caught in my jeans or it bothers me when I'm in bed. I can't stand to poke myself! Underarms 2x a week. I'm very hairy and it gross really fast there too.

I get my haircut when I have the money. I really need it now but no cash to spend on it. I jsut got dh's hair cut (it is too thick and curly for me to do it) and ds needs a trim too (he has the same type if hair that dh has)

Paint my toenails as often as necessary during the summer and normally naked in the winter.

My eyebrows get done when dh thinks they need done (he does them) I wax the rest of my face as need be

make-up on Sunday morning....Ministers wife has to look good

Shower at least once a day
Shave & wax 1-2 times a month (I have PCOS & have just come used to the fact that I am a hairy sasquatch, lol)
Make Up: only on special occasions
Nails: same as above
Haircut every couple months
I really try to shower every day, don't always succeed, yet
Never shave my legs, wax them maybe once a year
Shave armpits2x aweek, bikini area 1x mo
Never paint my nails
and my haircut 1-2x ayear, but I color it every couple of months
Make-up: almost every day, on the days I shower
post #18 of 19
Shower 3-4x per week
Shave-don't (maybe 6-8 x over the summer months, but I resent every single minute of it)
Pluck-never.
Nails-1x per month but only because I am painting my daughters nails anyway. I used to get manicures but I realized I did it just because I liked the massage. Now I just save the $$ for a one hour full body massage.
Make-up-for very very special occasions only (like dh's company Christmas Party or a wedding I'm in)
Hair-never. I trim it at home maybe once a year. Every couple of years I'll start playing with the color again but that rarely lasts for long. I get bored easily.

I do go through phases where I'll wear a little make up and put some product in my hair for a week or so. But it never lasts and only serves to dry out my hair and give me zits anyway. I do moisturize often, especially in the winter. I believe we Americans have taken "cleanliness" a little too far. The constant showering and bathing have left us dry, and possibly, weaker in realtion to germs and such. I like my natural smell (not sweaty, just my body's own smell) and feel more comfortable and more like me on the days I don't shower.

shower: wash my hair everyday, shower maybe every other? I have really oily hair
shave: armpits when they get too long, legs every couple of months when I need to put on a dress(maybe a few times a year?)
paint nails: my nails are so weak and brittle that they always shred before they get semi-long and pretty so I don't bother
hair cut: what's a hair cut????? NEVER!
makeup: I get into phases where I'll put on makeup everyday but most of the time it only lasts a week or two before I give up. NOT WORTH IT!
