red wine? rescue remedy? herbal teas?

I been thinking of getting red wine and have it cool, but not sure how my body will react or if I will want to drink any... I have some rescue remedy and chamomile tea in hand, but not sure if I will want to drink any hot tea during labor...

I will do what comes to me at the time but I don't have anything planned.

I loved my "water epidural" last time. The pool was just amazing.

Are you thinking for contractions? (stupid question )

Peppermint oil rubbed onto the uterus or back can help with pain. I wouldn't recommend using it late in labor though as it can take awhile to wear off and you wouldn't want anyone with peppermint hands touching the baby *ouch*. (Or having the baby lay on your peppermint belly)

I plan on using lavender oil diffused in the room, jasmine oil on my belly along with basil and peppermint or wintergreen during contractions (though it depends on how fast things progress. if labor progresses quickly i won't use the last two).

Last time I got a huge desire for Celestial seasons Lemon Zinger tea, my mom made some and I about thew up when i tasted it. I think my mind was playing tricks on me by that point (6-7cm) lol.

Yup, water. Water, water, water. Tub better than shower. That's the only natural pain reliever that has ever made any difference to me in labor. That and a tennis ball shoved in my back for my first (back) labor.

I want to try some red wine but I'm nervous that it will make me sick. I LOVE wine, and I do think it will relax me, but I just don't want to throw up red wine all over the hospital when I get there. Also, can't they detect it in the blood they draw? Couldn't they call CPS? Or am I just ebing paranoied...

Unless you are planning on getting drunk....there won't be a problem.

Yeah, Strong oils are not a good idea for a water-birth!

At my last birth we used rescue remedy and I think skullcap (if my memory serves me). Also the tub which helped a lot. I hated the shower because contractions were unbearable when standing completely upright.

My son was born 6 years ago and my midwife told me that now they can bring nitrous oxide to home births. I don't know if I'd want to use it. I told her to bring it and we'd play it by ear. It's supposed to be safe for the baby but I've read some info to the contrary. Any thoughts?

I do realize the gas isn't a natural pain reliever... so I guess it's off topic.

The man is going home after the birth to smuggle me a margarita in a Camelback bottle. He joked "We're gonna get kicked out of the hospital!"

I don't know about the redwine. If you are anything like me you get quesy during labor and you might throw up.

The hot shower beating on my back is the only thing I use. and....lots of prayer.
