short thin hair - can i no-poo? - Page 2

Yes, definitely only wash with the BS when your hair feels like it needs it and if it still feels a bit greasy, go an extra day. That way your scalp can adjust it's oil production level over time.

Okay, this is my 2nd cycle of wash with BS day 1 and then rinse days 2-3. It is NOT going well. My hair looks fab on the day i wash it, pretty good on the 2nd day provided I didnt rinse it, and then pretty darned greasy on day 3 - but it still looks better if I dont get it wet. What else should I try? I have been brushing my hair like crazy to get the oils moving around. I was considering just washing every other day with BS but then thixle said it might cause my scalp to over produce the oils. That make sense to me so I am not really sure. I have been off work for the summer but now school starts on Monday and I cant very well look the way I have been looking on days 2-3 (sometimes 4). I dont want to give up either. Do you think my scalp is just still adjusting? I think this is week 3 for me.

Dude, my split-ends are gone!!!!!:

E&Tsmom, I think I'd do the BS everyother day if you have a professional appearance to keep up, maybe you can wash it Monday morning, make it through to Wednesday morning then go all weekend without washing? Or use half the BS for a Friday wash if you need to, and go from there? I'm a no-poo newbie though.

E&T - personally I'd wash with BS every 2nd day too. Depends what your goal is for using BS. For me it wasn't only about going a long time without washing (I was just excited to not need to wash it every day, so was happy with every 2nd day). I also liked that it was super cheap to only use the BS/ACV and I loved that it was completely natural. So for me, it was a bonus every extra day I go without washing (BTW, I don't wet mine every day, sometimes I do, others not - depends if I want to style it or not or if I'm tying up that day).

I've been doing this for over 18mths now and still wash with BS every 3 days over winter and 2 days in summer and I'm happy with that.

:

I've recently switched to soapnuts, and was having the greasy thing. I didn't know to expect a transition period! Makes sense, though. Amazing the degree to which the cosmetics industry has made us unfamiliar to our own bodies! I've been rinsing with vinegar each time -- I'll try with no rinse!

FYI: my hair is fine, straight and long. When I switched off the poo -- instant bounce!

Thanks for all the great info!

Help!!!!

OKay. this is the end of week 4 for me. I need to get this straightened out since I am back to work now that the sumemr is over. I used BS on Monday and my hair looked fine, but kinda stiff (at least it stayed where I wanted it to!). Tuesday, just water. It was okay on the bottom, oily on the top, no bounce! I BSd it on Wed and it was VERY dry and the ends really looked frayed. Thursday I rinsed with water. Looked fine in the morning actually, but then by afternoon it was oily looking. Friday I rinsed with water and used a little of my aubrey organics watered down conditioner on the ends. They looked much better. Today, Sat, I used just conditioner to see what it would look like. My hair looks better than EVER! So, what to do? I want to go without washing for at least a day and I was hopeing to just use BS. but, the conditioner seems to be working. I liked the idea of how stinking cheap it is tyo no poo. Any thoughts as to how I can keep it up but still have hair that moves freely?? SHould I stick with the conditioner?
