I saw a pic of a pair of longies that a mama made with the curly purly waist and decided to try that on a pair of new baby longies.... I wanted them to be a size small- so that is what I went with on the curly purly pattern- and then changed it to my normal longies pattern. they look comically small. I mean pretty much ridiculous. I mean I know they stretch- but come on. these suckers would fit on a 16 inch doll. Not a 3 month old..... Well maybe- but it would be close. I don't want to knit up a whole bunch of longies that will fit for like a week- as fun as that would be..... Is the size small an accurate estimate? Or should I be making them a little bigger- but hey- maybe my brain forgot how little babies are in my world of jumbo toddlers?

Which part is small? The waistband or the body?
The waistband alsways seems super small to me. I've wanted to add it on to longies before but could never get my math right.
Anyhow the small waistband currently fits my 11 month old (last I weighed her she was 17ish lbs.) so it'll definitely fit a 3 month old.

the whole thing seems small! I dug out some infant sized prefolds- folded it up and shoved it in there and it fit just fine- so maybe I am just forgetting how small they can be! I mean we haven't used an infant prefold in forever! But after seeing it with a diaper in it- it looks like it is a go
Here is how I made it into longies- do the waistband as per instructions- then knit in stockinette until you get to the part where you want the crotch to start- then find your front center and back center stitch. I m1 on each side of the center stitches, then knit a round, then do the m1 on each side again, etc. I do this until I have a wide enough gusset and then kitchener it together and knit the legs.
I am sure that is clear as mud- but I think it is probably a very basic plain old formula for longies....
