I was given a used oven, a GE Profile convection oven. It's really nice, with a glass top. The only thing is, I am confused about the front left burner. It says on the stove "SmartHeat Halogen". The dial for it clicks. What I am confused about is why it doesn't come on at all until I put it up to high. If I put it on medium or low literally nothing happens.
In the stove's manual it just says that this burner senses how much heat is needed and adjusts, thereby using less electricity. I don't understand how the burner can know how much heat I want to use, and I don't get why I can't use it at low heat settings. Either I burn everything, or I don't use the burner at all!
Does anyone else have a GE oven with this same feature, who can explain to me how to use it? I figure I must be missing something and it's really frustrating me since I use the stovetop lots and lots (we don't have a microwave).
