suggested ziplock bags with moisture (several drops of water) to keep things "growing" and "alive"
just good old spit in the bag too- than lick the bag as well???

I know some are anti-plastic but I really can't think of another way??!!!

I couldn't make it to Burlington either. We have been exposed twice already with no results, so I didn't want to drag the kiddies 2 hrs one way on the off chance. I am hoping it will be closer to Manchester, NH soon too! PLEASE? lol

I hear you!
We've made two fairly long trips for pox, neither of which panned out as far as we could tell... hoping they'll drift closer to southern Vermont

About how to mail the pox:

One of the families in New York State got them through tees and pops in the mail, and their "donors" got them just through tees in the mail. So it definitely is possible. (We tried to get them that way, but I think we were too late.) You definitely want to use Express Mail and get them there ASAP. The mom I talked to said that the t-shirts they received had been in the mail for 36 hours, maybe even more, and they worked.

She sent us tshirts in a large ziplock bag and pops in a smaller one. The pops were licked and put back in their original wrappers, in the sealed bag. The moisture seems like a good idea from everything I've read.

FYI, the teeshirts seem to be a better vector than the pops -- I'm hearing a lot more success stories that way. The poxy child should wear them for quite a while to make sure that the cloth gets nice and juicy.

So glad we've got the pox in VT: looking forward to hearing about a nice new crop in two weeks!

DS broke out with spots today, not sure if they are chicken pox yet. We had a well baby visit today and when I got him undressed for it, there were spots that weren't there when I got him dressed! The doctor thought they looked like CP, but said we would definately know by tomorrow if they were. So here is a heads up just in case. We will be in Lyman, Maine this weekend on a lake and visitors would be welcome. I have no internet up there though, so if you want in, PM before 3pm tomorrow with your number. We live in Kingston NH and will be back sometime late Sunday for those who don't want to travel.

Foiled again! Hmmm... Not really sure whats going on! DS woke up this morning and the spots are lighter, but now he also seems to have goose bump type spots that are not red! Last night I would have sworn blind he had CP, more blisters as the day progressed, looked exactly like when my daughter had it last april. As you may know, we also had a false alarm back in March. I wonder if he is fighting it off because he is still breast fed and it doesn't mature? Whatever the case, it seems like it is a no go again. Sorry to get your hopes up (& mine)! Argh! Chicken Pox!

I was worried that my son wouldn't get them as he still nurses. He is three though, so he doesn't nurse all that often, maybe 2-4 times per day. He ended up with a pretty decent case of them though, so it isn't completely out the window if they are still nursing. Don't give up hope!

Now, I can't wait to see spots start sprouting from visits with my son!

CP via the mail

Is anyone interested in sending pops and/or t-shirts in the mail? I am in MA just north of Providence, RI. Of course, I will pay postage and whatever else you think is reasonable.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!

I will also gladly send some PayPal to anyone who would be willing to send along CP via a pop or shirt. If so, please PM me! Thanks!

Looking for POX, via mail too!

I have read the suggestions about suckers and tee-shirts through the mail (wrapped in plastic with a few drops of water or spit) and obviously I am completely desperate and willing to try it all.

I would gladly paypal someone for a shirt and lollipop to WI! I feel completely crazy, but willing. I would love to send extra for your trouble.

Watch it spread, right?

I wish I could help all of you mamas who are wanting lollipops and shirts, but my son is way out of the contagious period at this point. I am really hoping to see some spots start to sprout on the kids that he had playdates with though soon! Today is day 10 since he broke out in them, and also day 10 for his first (accidental) playdate with a kiddo that could potentially catch them. Crossing my fingers for all of you who came to visit!

*Update*So, my friend's son who was exposed to my son accidentally on the night that he came down with CP just sprouted spots today. 14 days after his exposure. They are spreading!!

Unfortunately, she did not want him to get them, and isn't willing to share, but I know everyone else who did expose wanted to, so let's see some more spots!

ETA: Just realized how crass this post sounded. My friend who's child sprouted spots today isn't stressed in the least about him having them now that he does. She just wasn't planning to expose him, and actually had him vaxxed two days after he exposed to DS. The ped thinks he will get a much milder case, and he seems just fine so far.

I have been told by my Dr any time after 11 or 12 months is OK to get chickenpox.
