I recently received a link to DVD Homeschooling. The group is secular.

I didn't see any other homeschool groups when I searched.

Thanks! We use Netflix for a lot of homeschooling stuff. DD loves animal-oriented documentaries and even watches the "making of" sections. We just finished the "Planet Earth" series.

We used netflix a lot last year, this year I am considering using United Streaming (with the homeschool buyer discount) since it has a lot of things not available through Netflix and the library.

Oh yeah, without that discount I can't even consider it.

We don't have cable and we watch a lot of docs that we are really considering it. When we get closer to starting, I am going to try the free trial and go from there.

Just briefly looked at the site. What is it exactly? I noticed the 30 day free trial, but didn't notice pricing (or homeschool discounted prices). But also, I'm just a little confused as to exactly what it is!

Okay, so I clicked and the Discovery United Streaming thingy looks wonderful, but - and forgive my luddite heart - does this mean your TV is your computer monitor? You don't watch this stuff on your 'puter screen, or do you?

Did a quick google search to answer your question (squiggly toddler in lap):

I can't speak for others, maybe they do maybe they don't. In our house my techie dh runs stuff from the computer to the tv. I guess if we didn't have the tv setup, we would be watching it on the laptop or desktop.

Check here: http://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/

It is a homeschool buyers discount co-op. It is national, maybe international. They negotiate for big volume discounts specifically for things that homeschoolers use. I know they had a discount for United Streaming in the past. Maybe search or call/write or check around the site. I saw a "Discovery Educational streaming". I'm not sure if it is the same thing.

Oh, it is free to join the group and benefit from the discounts.
