She arrived last night at 8:01 pm weighing 7 lbs 5 oz. My water broke at 2:30, and we got to the hospital at 3:45. I was dilated 4 cm at 4 pm, 7 cm at 5:30 or so, fully at 7:15, and baby arrived at 8:01. I was lucky it was so fast - I managed to hold out and do it naturally, but boy was I on the verge of begging during the last few contractions.
The birth was everything I had hoped for. My doc couldn't be there (the nurses actually didn't call him, he was very miffed about it), but another doc in the practice was there and he was awesome. They didn't pressure me at all, were so great about telling me exactly what to do, and supported me the whole time. And DH was amazing too. We are both so happy.
Ironically I had to get demarol and pitocin afterwards because of bleeding, apparently the uterus can get 'lazy' after a fast birth and lots of bleeding can occur. Thankfully it's much better today.
She's gorgeous, healthy, nurses like a pro and slept all night long (of course I know this won't last). I'll post pics soon.
