I did a lot of research again on mumps when we were planning to live in Zambia for 3 months, as it was the only vax preventable illness still prevalent there. I determined that we were still ok with it if our kids got it -- I also read that the whole "mumps makes boys sterile" thing was a myth -- anyone know about that? It's a little scary to think of my kids getting it, because I do know that some people do have complications from it (specifically breathing complications) but for my kids, I'd still rather them get the mumps than the mumps vax. In some ways I'd like for them to get it, and get the natural immunity, but I'm not sure I'd really seek it out like we did with the pox. I guess if it's coming back, it's a good idea to just get it over with when they're young... though we're off to NZ, so it doesn't exactly apply to us unless we're infected in the next couple of weeks!
I want to thank Ksenia again for hosting the going away party -- it was really nice to see everyone again! I'd like to see everyone more often, but I'm glad we have this forum to keep in touch.

we had an insanely busy but fun weekend, and spent all day just lounging, which we badly needed!! back to the crazy tomorrow!
