Office talk - about placenta eating!!

So it gets a bit slow at night here at work, and it's all women. So one of my co-workers asked if I was going to do anything wierd with my placenta. I said something about taking it home and burying under a tree - no way was I going to say that I was going to encapsulate and take it for PPD.

So the conversation turned to people who have heard of people who have eaten it and done other things with it. I did mention that I had read somewhere that it was great for hemmorage and PPD, so if I'm bleeding to death, I wouldn't hesitate on biting off a couple chunks. Most of the responses and conversation was more "oh, that's interesting", rather than the "ewww, gross" reaction. One woman was like "that's disgusting", but I was surprised at the mostly neutral/positive reactions. I was also asked what the hospital would do if I wanted to keep my placenta if I did end up at the hospital. All in all, it was an interesting conversation, and I think that I got a few people thinking about alternative birthing.

Just wanted to share that bit of sunny news with all of you - maybe natural birthing and all that goes with it is finally starting to make some headway into the mainstream!!!

I was pleasantly surprised to hear my coworkers being curious and supportive of my HB choices. I don't know if we ever discussed placenta eating (which I plan on doing), but it was nice for once not to hear "OMG YOUR BABY COULD DIIIIIIE" when someone catches wind that it's not going to happen at the hospital. One guy heard me mention my birth pool and goes, "Oh, you're having a home delivery?" like it was as normal as saying, "Oh, you got those shoes at Target?"
