TENS machine...anyone use one?

I realize this is a little late in this forum, but thought I would ask nonetheless.

Has anyone used a TENS machine? Is it worth it?

To preface, I'm hoping to have as natural a birth as possible (i.e., no narcotics, no epi), but I'm open to some forms of pain relief (like sterile water injections and possibly nitrous if it comes down to that).

Since I'm super overdue and quite bored, I came across a place where I can rent a TENS machine for $50. Is this a good thing to do?

Hi there,
I had a home birth with more back labor than you can imagine. I did use a TENS unit for the early labor part. It helped a little bit. My dh uses them professionally so I felt at ease with him knowing how to use it, where to put the pads, etc. I guess I was glad to have it as an option. I knew that I had found relief in the past when I had back injuries, so I would say it depends on whether or not you think it will work for you.

As someone who gave birth without any technology outside of the TENS, a tub, and a hot water bottle, you can do it! But I thought the ring of fire was somewhat a relief!!

I used one for my second daughters birth it was really helpful my labour was only 1.5 hours
