Names (Already)

I know it's early early early, but we are already talking about names. We don't have anything we love at the moment, which is driving me crazy, as we chose DD's name, Brynn Amelia, before we even conceived her!

I'm so super freaky about names, though; I want something unusual and not trendy, but the names I have liked for both a boy and a girl for the past few years (Owen and Avery) are now steadily climbing the ranks. Also, I think we already chose the best name in the universe for DD, so it's going to be hard to find something that I love as much.

So do you all have names picked out already?

We are working on girls names DH is adamant that the boy will be a third so we are settled there. I think my DD's name is perfect already I have no idea how to pick another either. Her name is Avia, and it has 3 vowels one consonant like mine, 3 syllables like mine and only one letter is different from my name. He already vetoed all of the names that I choose with similar properties so I have to start from scratch.

Kaia and Maia are on my list and if we have a boy his name will be Larry.

We have names!

Boy: August
Girl: Scarlett

We've had these picked out since DS was born.

We've only been able to come up with one boy name and one girl name that we both like.

Girl: Fiona
Boy: Alistair

DH says we will change our minds before I give birth. I think he's more than likely right.

Jenny, I love both of those names. Did you watch You Can't Do That on Television when you were a kid? I had a mad crush on Alasdair!

we are settled on first names and playing with middle names. for a girl, it will be Emma. Maybe Emma Kate or Emma Grace, not feeling too sure about the middle. For a boy, Terran. DP wants either an Irish name or something from Star Wars...so it might be Terran Glenn or maybe Terran Lucas. But definitely Emma or Terran. for now, anyway. lol.

Oh my gosh, I forgot all about him! I too used to think he was quite the dreamboat back then. Loved that show!

My dh and I have very different opinons on names, so were having a somewhat of a hard time finding consensus. Although we are doing better then last time, L's name was the only thing we could both agree on.

Some of the Names we have come to consensus on:

Boy: Samuel
Jacob
Henry
Elijah

Girl: Emma
Anna

We have come to a lot less consensus on girls names for some reason...
Some of my favorite girl names that he doesn't like as much are Sophia, Julia, Maria, and Olivia. Can you tell I like girls names ending in "a"? One of the names that he likes that I don't as much is Martha.

Oh and what do you think about Ashland for a girl or boy's name?

Well, I'm partial to it because I was born in Ashland, Oregon. But as a person's name...I'm not 100% sure.

Hmmm...it kinds reminds me of Ashley, which I'm not a fan of. Maybe for a boy it would be okay?

Boy: Phineas
Girl: Loralie

For a girl my current favorite is Juniper Nicole. DH likes Polly Jean, which I think is cute and has an obvious cute nickname (PJ), but I have a cousin named Polly. Also, while it's cute, I don't think I'd personally like to be named Polly, although I have a hard time saying why.

For boys, I have no idea whatsoever. For some reason all the boys' names I can think of are not appealing.

Well, we've done the thinking of baby names thing a few times already , and have long since winnowed the list down to our favs, so now it will be a case of making sure the name goes well with our other children's names. We like British Isles names due to family background, and I'm partial to old-fashioned girl names.

We always seem to have an easier time of girl names than boy, not sure why. There are so many lovely girl names out there that it's hard to choose! Still, if I'm honest with myself, I'd really love another little boy to round out our brood, so I'm secretly thinking more seriously about boy than girl names.

Some contenders:

Boy --
Iain
Devon
Gavin
Duncan (although DH probably won't go for that one; too bad, I love it!)

Girl --
Moira
Kathleen (Kate)
Margaret (Meg)
Juliet
Lily
Grace

(see, I just knew my girl list would be longer, lol)

We had names picked out long ago and DH decided to veto the girl name because someone told him it was once a boy name...WTF??? Not fair. We had Eden Aileen picked out for a girl. Apparently Eden was once a boy's name, thanks, Grandma. Now it will probably be Cora Aileen. For a boy, Gideon Joseph. DH isn't sold on Gideon anymore either. He says it's not a "good Catholic name." I try to remind him that he's an atheist and hasn't been a practicing Catholic since grade school, but some things just hang on . I also remind him that both Gideon and Joseph are in the bible, but whatever....

LOL We changed our minds since this morning.

My husband likes to call the baby "facehead". Since it has neither of those in a recognizably human form, I can't understand why he thinks it's so funny.

LOL My husband calls the baby "Airwolf." It could be worse!
