Ooooo, I love Aslan! (Narnia fans? ) I don't think DH would go for it, though.

Before DH and I were married, we decided that we would name our child "BowBow-Link Fetzer" because it was a none gender specific name (we didn't want our child to feel pressured to choose a gender if it wasn't right for them based on their names only). Keep in mind, we were goofy college kids that liked to rile up our families... So DH refers to the bun in the oven as BowBow Link.

However we really decided on these names several children ago. And if we have any more children, we have names picked out for them also. What can you say? I like things planned out, I guess.

Boy: Charlie Jerome
Girl: Violet Clare

Future Boy: James Edwin
Future Girl: Tracy Rene

We have a girl's name left over from last time (since we had a boy)...

GIRL = Joan (middle name will be Marie)

BOY = Alexander, Julius (we'd call him Jules), Marcus, or Adrian (middle name will be Peter)

What do you think of the boy names? Is Julius too over the top? LOL My husband and I love the name Alexander, but it's just so common these days...I think it's ranked #11 on the SSA list which makes for a lot of Alex's! Thoughts on our names choices? I love talking names :-)

I like Julius, thought of it myself, but I knew DH wouldn't go for it. As for Alexander, I've known people that went by "zander" or "anders" not the same old Alex. Julius Alexander has a nice roman ring to it

It's going to take DH and I a LONG TIME to agree on names. It's not a battle I look forward to because I LOVE names and I, so far, hate most of his suggestions. I saw him looking at a babyname website (which surprised me, because he doesn't really talk about names if I don't bring it up) and he was looking at names like "Lena" and "Millie"-- no offense to those who may love those names, but absolutely not.

Names I like...

Girl:
Annika (or Anika, I can't decide-- I like the "look" of Annika, but I dislike the nickname "Annie," I'd prefer her nickname to be "Ani" like Ani deFranco)
Indira (could be "Indi" for short)
Lindsay (probably one of the more common names I like and DH likes)
Piper (In spite of it's trendiness, I still like it)
Skylar
Kinley
Isla
Maisri
Maisie
Elissar

Boy:
Akiva
Tharen
Soren
Dietrich
Leander
Curran
Ezra
Seven
Landon
Caerwyn

All I know is whatever we end up with, his parents are going to hate it. They are very into traditional, common names.

I like Julius, but I think I like Julien/Julian even more. It's the name of a good friend of mine, though, so I don't think we're going that route. And I love Zander, so I'm all for Alexander with that nick-name.

Mischevium, I really like Maisie too. I kind of had it on my preliminary list but I don't think DH is wild about it. I think it is short for Margaret (officially) but I am definitely not stoked on Margaret. Soren is a really nice name for a boy. Is it Finnish? OK, and just to clarify: Seven? All I can think of is that Seinfeld episode!!

It's interesting, I knew it was short for Margaret, but it didn't sink in until you said it-- My grandma's name is Margaret (which I am also not a fan of), but if I wanted to honor her, I could name the baby Maisie. Hmmn... I'll have to think about that.

I thought it was Scandinavian of some kind-- I just looked it up and the website said Danish.

I don't think I've seen that episode. I would probably use Seven as a middle name.

Carol, i LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Sage for a boy. I was planning to use this for the 1st name if i ever had another boy and then my sister and her husband had to go and name their dog Sage. I was really upset and dont feel right using it at all now.
But then the name Daisy made my list for a dd because i miss my Daisy dog so very much. DP said absolutely not, no way could i name his child after a dog. But then he didnt know Daisy or else he would know she was better than most people. lol.
LOL, Ms.Shell. I am sure Daisy was a wonderful dog! She probably deserves to have a baby named after her.

I love Sage too.. but dh likes Seamus (pronouced SHAY-MUS) better. He is a Harry Potter fan so it was that or Serius. LOL

I love the name Layla for a girl, but my cousin named her dog Layla, and she also has a dd named Aiyla who passed away in April so I think that name is off limits.

My go-to girl name was Maya but another cousin of mine had a dd and she named her Mia. Soooo.. to close. LOL.

We don't know... still feeling kind of tentative about the pregnancy

My all-time fave boy name is Micah (Biblical) but DH hates it. Also, I really like Lachlan but again, DH hates it.

What do you guys think about Tobias (nickname Toby) for a boy?

Personally, I don't care for it, but it reminds me of my friend's son who is Asher (it's a Biblical name) & I LOVE Asher.

Jen, I absolutely love Tobias/Toby, but it was my parents' dog's name, so it's a no for us. I like Lachlan a lot too.

Speaking of dog names, I had two dogs, Riley and Spencer, as a young adult and I still think they are the best names ever! I totally wish I could use them again. But then again, my BFF thinks all the boy names I choose are dog names. :

Mischievium, here's a little blurb about it. I tried to see if I could find the episode available to view somewhere, but nope.

Our boy name of the day is Emory. Looooong story behind it, but I did find out today it was a popular name for boys/men in the 1800s and up through the early 20th century. I'm just wondering if it sounds a little too feminine? We could always give him a middle name like Airwolf just to beef it up a bit.

Please tell me I am not the only one who remembers that show. At least it's a step up from "Optimus Prime"

I had a client name her baby "Seven." No middle name. Just "Seven."

My daughter is insistent that the baby is a brother, and thinks we should name him "balloon head". (Balbo for short, thanks to a silly library book) I'm not looking forward to giving birth to anything with a balloon head, so no thanks

I haven't even thought about names yet, though I often look at our list from my daughter. We didn't make a definite decision for her until after she was born (especially since we didn't know her gender), and I don't feel like I could name a baby without meeting him or her first.

Weve had a girls named picked out since we found out I was pregnant first time around - didnt need to use it as I had a son! hehe
We have had a boys name picked out for over a year now though lol
But I am too stingy to share

You know what's annoying? Trying to find boy names when so many of them have been hijacked by little girls! I mentioned a few posts back that we've been thinking about Emory for a boy, and I checked SSA and baby name voyager and neither showed that it has been used since the 60s. Well then my BFF, who is a speech-pathologist an at elementary school, said there are THREE Emorys in kindergarten this year. :

Boy names are *so* hard!
Here's what we've narrowed it down to (of course this could all change, since it's REALLY early, but just for fun)...

GIRL

Joan Marie (Joanie)

BOY

Alexander Peter (Alex or Xander for short)

Adrian Peter - do you think of a girl or a boy when you hear the name Adrian? Just curious :-)

Marcus Peter

Julius Peter (Jules for short)

Thoughts on the boys names....???? :-) Just for fun! :
