Ummmm, How do you empty the pool!? I was just thinking of this, its not like it can be picked up. PLus, it would be weird to dump all the junk in my yard, Im sure my neighbors would appriciate that!

My midwife is bringing the pool tomarrow I think and I am just wondering what in the world we do with it, filling wise, cleaning, emptying....

I waterbirthed in a birthing center, but all they did was attach a sump pump to a hose and drain the water into the shower.

My mw has a sump pump that she uses just for birth pools. She said it gets a little "gunky" and needs to be cleaned fairly regularly. We drained it into the bath tub since the pool was set up in a bedroom just outside the bathroom.

We have a waterbed pump that empties the pool. You can rent one at Home Depot/Lowe's, or buy one for $50/$60. Since we've had two false alarms it has been nice to empty the pool out quickly...and it will be nice when the water is dirty too!

You can get a bilge pump, thats what I'm getting and you can actually just drain right into the toilet. Sounds weird but try pouring a bunch of water in it and watch the water level stays the same or goes down even... By the way the bilge pump can be had for only $35 and thats with shipping. Here is where I got mine... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=300244279624

He doesnt seem to have anymore though but maybe if you ask him he will otherwise you can look here and see what's available.. In the store its $50 just so you know.

Oh and as far as filling it you can get a vinyl hose at home depot that is 20ft length for $8 and then just get an aerator/adapter for the faucet, I got the one like... Grrr I looked online hoping I could find a picture of it but I cant... anyways its usually used for a portable dishwasher... I will have to look when I take hubby to work later but its pretty cheap altogether about $15 and not only can you use it for the pool you can use it to fill a fish tank if you have one as well! lol (I've got two tanks setup and thats how I fill and drain'em)

We had a hose by python, found in the fish supply isle, that we got at walmart for $30 that you attach to a faucet and use it to fill and empty the pool, it uses neg pressure to empty the pool. all you have to do is turn a nob and turn the water on ond it pulls the water out of the pool.
