Homebirthing Book for 3 Yr Old

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a good book about homebirthing for our 3.5 yr old son. Any suggestions?? I'm looking for both stories and non-fiction.

We're getting this book already: http://It So Amazing:A Book about Eg...s and Families. I think it going to be too advanced, though. We'll see. I'm sure we can get a little bit out of it, though, then use it later.

Welcome with Love is great. It's out of print under that title right now but I've heard you can find it as Hello Baby. We have the original version and it's so cute and matter-of-fact without sugarcoating anything.

I've also found Youtube to be an unexpected wealth of information for a preschooler. I bookmarked a ton of homebirth videos and DS and I would watch them together. Sometimes he would lose interest, sometimes it would open up a discussion between us abotu what happens at a birth. Seeing it firsthand really made it seem normal to him.

I want to second Welcome with Love by Overend. Beautiful book. If you can't get your hands on it, try your library - even if they don't have it in their collection they could InterLibrary Loan it for you! It's worth it!!

Yep, Hello Baby is our favorite! My son LOVES it and it's beautiful written.
He wants it read to him about three times a day since we got it.
And he always says " I watch you push baby Z out mommy." When we are finished

I've said it before, but I totally want to write a homebirthing book for children.
Out of curiosity, what would you like the book to be like?

My kids LOVE "Welcome with Love/Hello Baby". I've never had them ask me to read them a book so many times...over and over. lol The birth is so dramatic and the end is sooooo peaceful. It really is wonderfully written.

BTW...for anyone that has the original hardcover version...*treat*it*gently*! I went to buy a copy online (the one I read was loaned to me by a friend) and was shocked at how much people are selling them for...usually somewhere between $100 and $200!!! Yeah....we're getting the newer softcover version for $15. lol

Mention preparing for the birth. Explaining that mommy makes lots of noise. Have mom birth in the water. Have narrator ask questions about the placenta.

I know...I had to put ours up because I was scared it would get ruined. Now I can't find it. I hope I do...I might wind up selling it if we get hard up for cash.

What author is Hello Baby by? Our library has a book for kids called Hello Baby and there was no homebirth. It was all hospital birth.

We also have All the Places to Love by Patricia Maclachlan.
It is beautifully illustrated and I couldn't get through reading it the first time without bawling, it's just so sweet.

So when they color the first copy all brown you can re-print it....

not that that would happen...
