I *almost* feel sorry for him..does he have some sort of OCD/schizophrenic/paranoid condition that has gone undiagnosed?

Ya know, there really aren't enough mad-faced-ticked-off-shocked smilies on MDC that would even come close to conveying how angry this made me. I think this actually made my blood boil.. in fact, I'm almost sure of it. My freakin' face is all red.

How dare that bleepin' bleepity bleep bleeper (I'm trying to stay within the rules here)..

I am sooo glad this was in government-owned space. I can not imagine this being tolerated. Please please OP and others local to this, keep the updates coming.

: I hope there is a major nurse-in planned. Wow - wow - wow - wow. Unbelievable. Truly unbelievable. I'm not usually of the "he needs to be fired" mind - I'm usually more of a "he needs to be educated" gal. In this case - THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!

The OP was harrassment. This proves this guy is dangerous, breaking the law, and costing the (city, state?) money. Closing a park because a mother was breastfeeding? This guy has issues. I hope this second incident was reported also.

Please let us know any updates on this.

Ooh, I would so be trying to convince that mom to call a reporter. The media would love this story, no?

Doesn't this guy report to someone? Like, to alert them that the park was shut down for X number of hours due to contaminated breastmilk? You would think the higher ups would be aware that he is a little off his rocker...

Pleasepleaseplease somebody call the news media with this one. This is so not okay.

I'm absolutely appalled at this man's behavior. This needs to be addressed quickly and harshly. Shut down the park? I really, really hope that the women involved get the media involved pronto.

Can you imagine this man's behavior if there was a nurse-in at his pool! The pool would probably have to be drained and refilled.

I just am speechless!!!!!!!!

So, do all women swimming in the pool have to prove they are not lactating? Because if breastmilk is such a concern, then having a lactating woman in the pool at all might be a problem--you never know when I might leak a little, after all! How do they know if a woman is lactating or not?

If they're so afraid of HIV, what about other bodily fluids that might contain it?

Crazy.... crazy crazy...

Jacksonville is only, like, 4 hours from me! Bet they'd love to see me nursing my newborn and toddler!

Please be kidding.

Someone please let the media know and tell us who we can write to or something. This guy needs to be fired.

I don't believe that for a second. I'm not trying to be rude but no way was an entire park shut down because a woman breastfed in it.

I hope a nurse in happens. I'd come, but I'm in Utah... sad...

Happy nursing vibes to everyone in Jacksonville!

Please report this incident using the breastfeeding discrimination form at firstright.org. Firstright is a group helping to organize the fight for equal rights for breastfeeding mothers and was formed out of the Applebee's Nurse-in. Thanks!

BTW, I have been harassed and had the police caleld on me for NIP. I was publically humiliated as well. I am sorry you had to go through this and wish I could give you a big hug as I know it feels just awful. Excellent letter and way to go for standing up for yourself!

Unbelievable. Part of me hopes it's a joke but I know it's dead serious. Just wow, the audacity and the ignorance!
