solar power thier house? hubby and I are seriously thinking about doing this to our house..we aren't sure if we will stay on grid or not.

yes it's expensive to convert it, depending on the type of system you put in and how much electricity you consume a month it runs about 10-50K for the equipment, not counting labor for instalation. once we know we are settled down for "the duration" we will convert to solar and wind power, along with wood heat and hot water heating. in the long run it really is well worth the investment.
