What can I use to unclog my bathroom sink?

A la DRANO. Anything just as effective as this toxic killer?????? Our sink has become VERY sluggish over the past two days. Plunging helps a bit.

Any suggestions for something we can pour down the drain to help move along the clog?

I pour baking soda down my drains followed by hot white vinegar. It fizzes like crazy and manages to make the drains clear right out.

Clean House, Clean Planet recommends this for a clog:

Pour 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup water down the drain. Leave overnight. Pour boiling water down in the morning.

For general cleaning and maintaining, use baking soda and vinegar, but not after using a comercial cleanser.

I know this is the obvious........but a plunger always works for me!

the baking soda/salt/vinegar + time + boiling water really is amazing (i usually forget the salt). it can take a few applications. it also works on toilets! apparently bac-out is supposed to be good pipe hygiene as well. but that other stuff is a lot cheaper.

Try pouring a 2-litre of Coke down the drain - plumbers swear it works!

Put hydrogen peroxide in your sluggish drain to prevent a total clog. Hydrogen molecules attach to oxygen molecules which create bubbles!!, that then work to move clogs throught the drain. Hydrogen peroxide is only about fifty cents a bottle too so you can use a few bottles for good measure!
