Book recommendations?

I'm sure this has been asked before and maybe there is a thread floating around, but I havent seen it yet during my daily stalkings...:

I just ordered 3 books from Amazon yesterday that came highly recommended by my midwife and a friend...

Ina Mays Guide To Childbirth

Baby Catcher by Peggy Vincent

Birthing From Within by Pam England

Is there any other books that I should be reading?

Another thing...is there a book out there for my hubby to read to help him understand the birth process and what I'll be going through...and how he should conduct himself as my birth partner?

Thanks!

In case this book is not on the above thread, what helped me the most to make a decision for HB was Sheila Kitzingter's book "Rediscovering Birth".
It somehow puts everything in the right perspective - that you are not doing some weird, progressive, advance, hippy thing, by giving birht at home. But that it is actually a very normal thing to do.

Good luck !!!

Thinking Women's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer.

You might want to check out the Birth Partner for dh or any other support you aer using.

I think Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way would be a pretty good one to help your dh understand the process, etc. The only part I remember really not caring for was I think chapter 2 - the one about pain meds. I'm pretty hardcore about not using meds during pregnancy or birth but I felt the way she wrote that chapter was offputting even to me, and that's saying something!

Thanks!

I have the thinking womans...book and I LOVE that book!

As soon as I read the ones I just ordered I'll place yet another order...

I really appreciate the books mentioned for my DH, I really think its important that he read also...I'm SO excited about my hb! I'm almost halfway there! :

I took two bradley classes with my son...and then missed the rest because he was born early, and I really ENJOYED them! So informative and our instructor was so into natural birth. Not doing it this time due to finances and I already have a doula and will have two mw's. With all the reading I'm doing I'm hoping I'm covered!!

"Pushed" by Jennifer Block. It's a journalistic look at the birth industry.

I also didn't like that that book suggested that the best postion to give birth is a reclining squat. That book was very anti-using other positions. I didn't notice it much the first time I gave birth because our instructor had us try differnent postions in class. But I reread it and it was all for the side-lying postion and nothing else.

For your dh have him read The Birth Partner by Penny Simpkin
