Favorite Books for 2 Year old?

Hope I'm not duplicating a recent post, I haven't been hanging out over here too much lately.
Anyway, my son loves books and has since a very young age. His 2 year old birthday is coming up, and I wanted to give some suggestions to family for gifts. He does not need board books anymore.
Thanks in advance!

DD loved the Sandra Boynton Books. She also loved Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin. Lots of fun. The Doreen Cronin books have nice large text, too.

My 2 year old current new favorite is Tanka Tanka Skunk! Loads of fun for him and daddy to read together! I personally love Silly Sally and Red Ripe Strawberry by Audrey Wood

Ok, I'll admit they're board books, but my 19 month old LOOOOVES his "no no" books by Leslie Patricelli. http://www.lesliepatricelli.com/ We've got "No No Yes Yes", "Yummy Yucky", "Big Little", and "Quiet Loud". As you can tell, they're all about opposites and the more dramatically you read them (or talk about the pictures...the words are minimal) the more fun they are. DS loves to yell LOUD! and whisper quiet. The pictures are so cute too! And you know she's had a toddler...who else would know so many of the things that toddlers might get into! They're kind of like toddler life lessons with pictures so simple that they really get it without a lot of explaination. I've heard him reading them to himself, and when we look at them together, his eyes go back and forth and he concentrates really deeply.

Sandra Boynton books - especially Blue Hat, Green Hat (if you ask me, it is the dumbest book I have ever read but DD thinks it is HILARIOUS!)

Eric Carle books are great - she loves the Brown Bear one and Have You Seen My Cat

She also loves this one book called I Know A Rhino but I'm not sure who the author is

She loves loves loves books. Her favorites are ones with animals so we can make all the animal noises together.

DS just got SkippyJon Jones for his birthday. It is about a siamese kitten who thinks he is a chihuahua. DH and I laughed out loud at most of the book, it is hysterical. There are a few little songs in there that DS makes me sing to him over and over, and we love it.

P.D. Eastman is a big hit over here: Go Dogs, Go has been a favorite for over a year. This might be obvious, but we also never get tired of Dr Seuss. He likes Richard Scarry stuff too--the story books but also esp the picture books, like Cars & Trucks & Things That Go.

Rainy Morning by Daniel Pinkwater. My daughter LOVES this book (she just turned two a couple of months ago). Before every nap and bedtime we read a handful of books and this has been on her read list for the past four months. For those who don't know it, the book is about a couple who are inside on a rainy morning having breakfast, they see their pets outside getting wet so they invite them in for breakfast, then some wild animals, then Ludwig van Beethoven, then the US Marine Band and finally a circus. It's pretty silly, but fun (at least the couple dozen or so times, I'm pretty sick of it at this point).

My nephew and niece used to have the book So Much. It is great and fun to read. I think two was about the right age.

My parents just got Antler, Bear, Canoe for my 17 month old. She's not super into reading yet, but it's one book she usually lets me finish. I love the artwork, and it is interesting to read. My niece and nephew liked it too.

That's all I can think of at the moment...the others that spring to mind are probably better for older children. Flat Stanley, Ira Says Goodbye, and anything by Elsa Beskow.
