I am moving and want to paint very simple flowers onto the kitchen wall in a pattern... like wall paper kinda. i was thinking i could carve a stamp and it would be easier. what would i make the stamp out of and what kind of paint would i use? anyone know?

I know it sounds very preschool but my MIL uses potatoes all the time to make stamps for her projects.

Acrylic paint would work.

you could cut shapes with a sponge. or make a stencil with an exacto knife and a plastic quilting template..

Another easy way to make stencils is using sticker paper on your printer to print out your design then cut out with an exacto knife. stick it on the wall and paint in the cut out part, remove and let dry.

I second potaoes....or apples!
I even saw an article in Family Fun that used a cupcake that the mama cut into a "shape".

I would think any paint would work!

THANKS!!! Potatos and apples sound like a good cheap option. I'll have to find a hidden corner to "test" it out though. that is after we move in... and unpack...

If you want something bigger (or less perishable), use a sheet of craft foam cut to shape and paste it onto a block of wood.
