Animal guests... (foxes)

We have a small urban lot, fully fenced, but a few days out of every week get a fox sleeping in our yard, three feet from our back door. I don't really mind, but just how big a threat is this? I have a small toddler and a teeny baby. I don't leave them outside unattended, especially DD, but is there a chance the fox could attack somehow? He *seems* very placid. DS and I enjoy bird watching so we have a bird-feeder, which I read you shouldn't have with foxes around, but... We like our birds!

We have a big window out of the kitchen and I would like to eventually let DS play outside while I cook (not yet, maybe next summer) but with foxes around, I'm just not sure.

We had a fox that would show up every so often outside of our old house. I saw it carrying off a rabbit or cat one day, but other than that, it just seemed either taking a nap, or out for a trot.

I wouldn't worry about him unless I saw him slobbering. Wild canines can get rabies and can pass it to domesticated dogs or to people. Rabies pops up every so often around here, but not sure if it is a problem where you live.
