Homebirth midwife near Bethel, Vermont?

Hi everyone!

I just found out that I'm pregnant with my first child. I'd like to give birth at my home in Bethel-Lympus, Vermont. Any recommendations on midwives in my area (Bethel, Royalton, Sharon, Randolph, Rochester) who'd be interested in homebirth?

Thanks,

Hi Erica,
Congratulations! You can find midwives at the Vermont Midwifery Alliance website. I am a Naturopathic midwife in the Middlebury area and practice along with Chenoa Hamilton, a certified professional midwife. We travel an hour and a half radius from our clinic. Let us know if you have any questions.

Katina Martin, ND, midwife

Hi Katina,

It sounds like I should be within your traveling range. I checked out the Vermont Midwives Alliance website before posting here -- it doesn't really give much info for each listing (whether the midwife does homebirths, etc.). It also seemed like a really sparse list! I thought there would be a lot more midwives listed--maybe there are just a lot of Vermont midwives not affliated with VMA?

There is kind of a shortage of homebirth midwives right now.

Ruth Richardson in in Tunbridge -- I'm not sure how much she is working right now, but she is worth a call. Gentle Landings in Barre (Erin Ryan and Katherine ????) is worth calling as well.

Good luck, you'll find someone!

Midwives

hi,
just poking my head into different tribes and saw this one and thought i would throw in my thoughts.
i had a homebirth with Katina Martin and Chenoa Hamilton (midwifery partners) and i could not recommend them more. we had a great experience. they have a great practice and have a lot to offer because there are two of them and they integrate naturopathy, chinese medicine, acupuncture through Katina and more traditional homebirth midwifery through chenoa. They both come to all the appointments and births as a team. we felt really well taken care of. you can give them a call at the clinic Salisbury Natural Family Health. let me know if you want the number.
hope this is helpfull
good luck!

I'm working with Gentle Landings (I live in Montpelier). They would be worth a call. I don't know how far they go but I can definitely recommend them. Erin Ryan is on family leave as she has a 6 month old so Katherine Bramhall is the one to contact. She works with another midwife and is currently working with a midwifery student as well.

Katherine is also highly respected and comes highly recommended by many women here in the area. I can't believe how many other mamas have seconded the recommendation. Give Katherine a call to see how far she'll travel.

good luck!
