May be switching to HB

We just don't seem to be happy anywhere! DH and I switched mw and hospitals at 34/35 weeks because we had lost confidence in the mw and the ob she works under. I was happy with my new mw service (rotation of 8 mw) until I went to the hospital last night. I was having cntx 3 minutes apart lasting 1 minute each for three hours. The hospital is 1 hour from my house, I am gbs+, and this is my third baby so they asked me to come into the hospital. It was such a horrible experience that my cntx stopped after 4 hours of active labor and never restarted.

So, DH told me on the way home from the hospital that he would be ok with a homebirth. We were always open to it, but didn't think it would happen because of my history of pre-e. So, I called a few midwives in the area, and one highly reccomended one may be able to take me at 37 weeks!!!

Congrats if it all works out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

That would be awesome! After having 2 homebirths I'd recommend it.

I just had a long conversation with the homebirth mw, and she is able and really glad to take me on! She really wants to meet me face-to-face to make sure that I am comfortable with her, so DH, the kids and I are meeting her tomorrow.

The ironic part is that she transferred one of her high risk moms to the hospital I was at last night. She was literally a few doors down from me at a hospital that is an hour from where we live, and we both left at the same time!

Hey-that's great news!
We just decided to go for a HB last week-and I am so excited now. I hope when you meet the new MW, she fits the bill! Let us know how it goes.

We met with her today, and I am so very excited. It was like it was meant to be. She is in need of some marketing and website help, and that is what my background is in. So, we are bartering services, and I will have to pay little to none out of pocket!

Yeah! I have a history of toxemia (pre-e to the extreem) and I didn't have any difficulty with little N's home birth. As a matter of fact is was by far the easiest of all the 3 I've given birth to. I'm so glad for you.

That's so rad! I'm happy to hear it's all meant to be and you're happy.

My midwife and her assistant came today for a home visit, and we are so happy! Now that this birth is a part of our lives and not a disruption as a hospital brith and stay would be, I am so relaxed. My bp is lower than ever, and that has always been a concern with my history of pre-e.

Congratulations!!! I have to say I am jealous, too. The out-of-pocket cost was too high for us...so to the hospital we go.
