We just found out that we will be expecting #2 sometime in April - so I better get to knitting!

Spam me - what are some of your favorite kimono and other young baby knits?

Me too!

I have a few bookmarked from Ravelry -

Sachiko Kimono

Seamless Kimono Sweater

Berroco Pie

One Skein Curly Purly Kimono

Plus the ones from Debbie Bliss and the Mason Dixon book look appealing.

So I am still hoping someone can chime in for some guidance - a relatively quick pattern (easy is good, too!) that functions nicely. A couple of them look like the ties are too far down to do any good (like the Mason Dixon), but I wonder if that is just an aesthetic thing?

I love the Sachiko kimono. Here's the one I knit for the coming babe:

I'm also working on a Baby Yoda sweater for him.

And not a kimono but I think the Child's Placket Neck Pullover is really cute, too:

I am working on one from the same blog as your Seamless kimono sweater pattern link.

It is the top that ties. Unfourtunatly I used the wrong yarn so I had to emprovise to make it big enough. Now I think it is about 3 mo size and I wanted a newborn. Oh well, I will try it again but I am too far into it to rip it all out.

I'll post a pic when I finish.

Oh, and I moved the ties and altered the pattern a bit to suit my needs.

zoebugsmom - do you have a pattern link for that first one? I was hoping someone would post that.

Yes, and do you have a link for the pants and booties too?? Pretty Please?

The kimono is in Jennifercp8's post. I can't remember exactly what I did but I omitted the yarn over so there weren't any eyelet holes.

The pants have a curly purly waistband but are mine from there down. There are some short rows for tushie room and a gusset crotch. Pretty easy to figure out with a bit of math. I couldn't tell you exactly what I did because I tend to just knit what I feel like knitting in the moment. lol

The booties are LTK's family felted mocs. They're in the book 100 knitting projects.

The one in the Mason Dixon knitting book (I think it's called Heartbreakingly cute baby sweater) is very easy (it was my first sweater ever). Plus you can knit it out of dishrag cotton. I looked it up on flickr and there are a bunch posted:

One mod I made was to not seem the ends of the sleeves at the cuffs to make it easier to get on and off.

I think EZ's Baby Surprise Jacket is more of a fav for me though.

I like the Mason Dixon one, definitely! Does anyone find that it doesn't stay closed very well from just tying at the bottom?
