Castor Oil?

So, I'm reading about the oil clensing method in another thread and it recommends castor oil for the skin. I have been battling acne for 20 years and would like to try this method as it has so many rave reviews. So, my excited little butt headed down to whole foods for some castor oil. It says on the bottle not to use on broken or rashy skin. I know acne isn't a "rash" but it is technically broken skin. I didn't buy it because of the warning label. Thoughts? Did I misunderstand?

Hi there-I haven't used castor oil on my face-but just as of last night I started using it on my hands and feet as a natural cure for some small warts that I have-I have also used it on my hands at other times. I'm no expert but I think it's a pretty safe product. It is incredibly thick though. I personally wouldn't want to put it on my face- the best thing that has ever cleared up my acne is taking evening primrose oil caps. orally. A mask of ground oats with low or non-fat yogurt does wonders too-you could use that daily-it is very gentle. Good luck and clear skin wishes!

I no longer have acne, other than the occasional zit so I'm not sure how helpful I can be. I've used castor oil on my face and find it very drying. After massaging the castor oil in and gently wiping it off, if you massage in grapeseed oil (also drying and much lighter and thinner than CO), it tempers the drying affect of the CO. Maybe you want your skin dried a bit? I can't speak to the rashiness though.... I can't imagine it'd hurt your skin, but maybe the warning is there to prevent infection since CO isn't sterile?

Thanks for the replies. The oil cleansing method says you're supposed to cut the castor oil with something like grapeseed, olive or sunflower oil. I guess it's to combat the drying effects of the castor oil. I think I may give it a shot...I'd try almost anything at this point. I do take an Omega 3-6-9 supplement, but I have EPO on hand from when I was prego. Would that be overkill?

No- I don't think it's overkill to do the omega oils and some e.p.oil-just moderate amounts of each-
