I'm not sure how to go about this, but here goes:

Short version: Does anyone here have any natural-fiber yarn that they would like to donate to a good cause?

Long version starts here:

My 19 year old daughter is (very happily) expecting her first baby in the beginning of December. This was unexpected, although she is very firmly partnered. Not a mistake, but a surprise.

She is really just starting out, she has a job and was, in fact, recently promoted. She is very responsible and a wise soul.

She plans to birth at home, cloth diaper, breastfeed without supplementation, cosleep, etc. All decisions that she made all by herself before she even told me that she was pregnant.

I will be going through my diaper stash in the next couple of weeks and sending off hopefully 3 dozen or so of my best-condition dipes (most of mine are falling apart for some reason ). I'm sending my baby's sling which we barely used (wasn't his preference, he liked bare arms or a mei tai better), and anything else that I can corral.

I am very proud of her and happy for her. I am in the middle of knitting a blanket, and I wanted to make some longies, hats, booties, washcloth/wipes, mama pads, hopefully a little sweater or cardigan of some kind, and send her a most amazing care package. I sort of know someone locally who makes lovely soaps, I plan to include some of those too.

She has very sensitive skin, and even when she was a baby she would get rashes from any synthetic fibers no matter the quality. That's no problem, because I only use/wear natural fibers anyway.

Here is my problem. I am poor. I can't afford any yarn right now, that probably won't change for a long time. I'm running out of yarn rapidly. There is no way that I'm going to be able to make anything more than this (lovely) blanket with the yarn that I have (and I also have my own 20 month old baby who needs longies soon, by the middle of September as I'm in the mountains). I'm sad at the thought that I won't be able to provide this baby with a nice little gift set, and to get mama started out.

So, does anyone have a cluttered stash, with maybe some cotton/wool/merino/any other natural fibers that are just sitting around taking up space? Maybe even yarns that you didn't like much after having used them? Or that you're just not feeling the love?

Any gauge is helpful, I need worsted for longies and hats, DK or fingering for booties/hats, whatever I can get I will find a use for, for this coming baby. Likewise, any natural fiber will be utilized. Scraps are great, I don't need whole skeins.

I hate asking, but I thought maybe someone here has some unwanted yarn sitting around taking up stash space- you know?
