Shout Color Catcher: yay or nay?

Once in a while I like to throw a Shout Color Catcher sheet in the laundry when there's a relatively new item that could bleed onto other things. How does it work? Are there nasty chemicals in it? Thumbs up or thumbs down on these things?

I also find them very useful. I mostly only use them when I'm doing long soaking.

I'm curious what makes them work, but I put them in the category of the magic sponge: a really cool product that just can't possibly be *that* evil, if it's not abused.

I don't know what's in them, but they work great!

I like them too. I toss one into any load containing reds/pinks or blues. They seem to prevent color bleed over.

Love tehm. They work graeat.

I've also wondered about how safe they are. I do use them because it allows me to use less water since I can wash more clothing together that would normally need to be separated. Unless I hear something bad about them, I put them in "love it" category!

I just noticed yesterday that my Target has them on sale (temporary price cut) for $3/box - normally $3.79...just a tip for y'all. I bought a new box. Glad to hear there's nothing overtly scary about them, but if anyone learns anything, let me know!

I use them in my quilting fabrics that I prewash and they work great!!! Something 'greener' I've found is that you can reuse them, dry them out and save them for the next bach of similar colors they caught (I've never mixed an already tinted red catcher in with a different color wash... but using them again for a red wash works.) Once they get a pretty dark intense color I will toss them.

Oh yeah, I tear them in thirds for normal use and reuse them too (frugal much?). If it's a new item of clothing that might bleed badly, I will use a larger one though.

I love them. I will cut them into pieces as well and if I have a new item, I shove all the pieces into that item.

Agreed... I love 'em, too! I can reuse them at least 3-4 times, though I never thought about cutting them. Thanks for the tip!
