So if you were playing doctor at home....cervix questions

So dh and I were playing doctor since cowgirl is out..
KIDDING

I got him to check my cervix as I know I will look for any hopeful sign and he's a bit more objective and knows his measurements a bit better (engineering background)

I realise babies are an art form not a science
His two fingers measured accross aren't 2cm rather closer to three...
(he's over six feet..but I got the larger man hands ....
good for farming...no cowgirl pun intended..

So now he can get three finger widths in without effort...
into my cervix I mean...getting them up there requires careful positioning and KY
...on the sliding ruler that's like 4+cm
is that 4 the same as a midwife doctors four or is it three for three fingers..

zero station getting more effaced..
and no contractions anymore even with bad weather, castor oil, chinese food, sex...so we going out for curry in an hour..---
--
midwife got back to me...she said 3-4cm for three fingers..
remeasured hubby's they are over 4cm....
width of 3 of my chubby swollen fingers 6cm+

It is so hard to say...it even varies between practitioners. One will say 4 cm the other 5 or 5 1/2. It is slightly subjective in that manner. The only thing that matters is the progress.

Oh and I have been eating curry every other day for the last few days.(more because of cravings not induction ) No luck here...hope it works for you!

curry was good only helped a bit with my nasty arse pregnancy congestion..
Progress...lol I keep meeting milestones but not jumping over cliff.
I am kinda sad I missed yesterday 8-8-8.
I will miss today for my grandma's 90th birthday..
tomorrow is a nice number 10082008

I am half terrified I will walk around over 5cm dilated and not make it to somewhere safe .... I kinda want to know the things I cannot know!
This is why controlling women schedual birth!

dilation is an estimation. 10cm doesn't necessarily mean your cervix i s open 10cm but rather completely open.

Oh and have you tried the nipple stimulation? It works really well for me.

yeah I did it scared me though..
10 minutes of tweaking got me 1hour of contractions every four minutes..
then they went away..
shuddah gone to L&D then I might just have passed go

weird but coudn't hurt..go up and down in an elevator. the pressure changes might send you into labor. I was going up and down in an elevator and it sent me into contractions for the last baby.

Very interesting! I was just wondering that how bodies are sooo different why would it be that *every* woman has a cervix that opens to exactly 10 cm. Answers the question.k

Shiloh, we are in the same boat. It's so funny to watch you post, the similarities are scary!

My DH is a large man too(6'5, 350lbs) and he has big hands too. And we have also played doctor..lol..and about the same results..and also with no sign of labor...

You however are braver than me in the castor oil dept..I just can't do it!

I AM going to call my midwife tomorrow if my water doesn't break and something happen because I can't wait until Tue for her black and blue cohosh tincture!

I did like 45 minutes of nipple stim tonight(plus an orgasm to accompany it) and got a few "twinges" for my efforts. NOT even an hour of ctx...more like 4 of 5 of them. I am losing my mind now!

I need it to be now! I am SO miserable and she goes on vaca on Friday and I will NOT birth with her partner, and hospital and UC are both out of the question...so I am stuck needing it to be soon..and I am afraid if I wait until Tue, it won't start labor soon enough!

I too am trying to avoid a certain midwife (I have four on the bench due to vacations) Dh and I talked long and hard about it and he said I can do what I like...even if that means walking into a hospital without calling said midwife...

I feel more relaxed that I can now go into labour...
but I am getting one contraction every 20 minutes or so...and really could be gas...

Castor oil sure it was brave to try but it didn't do nothing for me...
I can't even get the runs off castor oil I am an induction looser

Cervical dilation is such an estimate...my husband would check me and he like your husband has real big hands, and then the Dr would check and we would get different numbers...sheesh...when I worked L&D different nurses would check a patient and come up with different things. It is all an estimation and SO subjective.

My elevator is two stories..'
do you think if I brought my birth ball in there my neighbours would be shocked

hey I think I might be getting another useless contraction of course 8 minutes apart...got to love the term early labour only if I didn't live in early labour for weeks....sigh.

I guess its confusing too here living in the metric system I know what 1cm, 2cm really is...and I know how big my hands are, how big my husband's are..
and I want to pass go....(or what I see as four cm which to me might say hey this train might be leaving the station not just warming up)

instead I just bounced on my yoga ball....couldn't go pony riding as highway closed..

2. http://www.greenjournal.org/cgi/content/full/103/4/653
It said the most likely time to start labour is 1:45 am...looks like hubby is not sleeping tonight I am going to do a run up to 1:45....its odd as I have either been staying up until 2am or waking up around then..

My water broke with DD at 2am so that makes sense. My MW says babies like to come at night...lol...here's hoping for this morning!

My bloody show has been much more pronounced and I have been having intermittent ctx(better than none from before!) so here I am chilling out and hoping!!
