Looking for name opinions/help please!

Dh and I can't find a girl name that moves us...! If I do end up pushing out a girl, I'm scared we won't have a name ready and, because we're picky, it will take FOREVER for us to settle on something!

What do you all think about the name:

Allegra Sofi
Alegra Sofi

(like the I say's "e" it's a scandinavian pronunciation, dh is norwegian). We have a strong 3 syllable last name that is uncommon (like there are 4.5 million norwegians living in norway and 80 have our last name...) so I'd like to have a strong first name to counter balance, iykwim... Plus it needs to be fun/uncommon and go with Sydney

Help!

I love it, and I prefer Allegra with two "l"s.:

Allegra here is a name of a medication...
Although I do like the nn Ale/Alle...and I do like the name allegra/alegra/allegria combinations..

do you think she would be associated with the medication? DH was concerned people would possibly tease her because of that, or simply because there is a med with the same name....

I believe someone said before the kids will tease other kids because of names regardless. I like both names.

Well first do you think the medication will be around 5-10 years?
Probably, but there's a BC pill named Yazmeen..(sp) that's a common name..
But the number one reason I'd say get a longer short list is you don't love it enough yet.

My DH also made the medication connection when I liked "Allegra" for a girl's name.

I still like it. It was a real name first -- it's not like naming her "Zoloft" or "Claritin."

There's a drug company called "Eli Lilly," for cryin' out loud, and people still use those names!

Allegra is a really beautiful name. I wouldn't worry about the (potential) connotations-people bring what they want to a name, situation, etc.
I teach high school, and it was so hard coming up with a name that didn't immediately bring a student's face up (good or bad). Our two names (Rowan and Beatrice) were partially based on the fact that I've never taught a Rowasn or Bea!!!

:

but yeah, if you aren't totally in love with the name, try thinking of a couple more and decide when she gets here.

I like the two Ls

I love Allegra. There's a wondeful poem called "The Children's Hour" about the poet's three daughters: "Grave Alice, and laughing Allegra, and Edith with golden hair." Allegra always makes me think of that poem. It's a beautiful, classic, old-fashioned name that is uncommon enough today to be distinctive. I think its a great choice, and beautiful with Sofi.

I love it (and have never heard of the medication)!

lol,

ok I'm a ditz sometimes when I'm pg! Our last name starts with an "S".

Allegra Sofi S... BAD initials!!!

BUT, we are throwing in my mothers name as a remembrance (she passed away almost 1 year ago) and it starts with L..

I guess that saves it! lol...

Thanks for all the comments ladies! I really appreciate it

Yep, I'm thinking of the drug commercials.

Maybe Aria. Still gets in that musical touch you were going for.
