Do you Hula Hoop or Want to Learn? - Page 4

ok so I've been to lowes, home depot, the farm store, and a locally owned garden store in my smallish town, and i still can't find 3/4 160psi irrigation tubing. it is usually black right? i found some white that was close, like 3/4 100 psi or something like that. i could care less about the color but i was wondering if there is a difference in the weight/material of black verses white. also the white stuff i found only comes in 10ft or 400ft. i think 10ft would be smallish and 400ft would be ALOT of hoops. any suggesttions?

yay! I found someone to teach me tricks! And the reason why the tutorials didn't help is that my hoop was really, really heavy. i'm excited.

Lower than 160 psi will work, I just prefer the heavier weight. That's not to say you can't add something inside (sand, water, etc.) to make it heavier--just watch how much you add. I like using 100 psi for kid hoops.

On another note, I decorated a few hoops this week...I need to post pics because I think they turned out really cool! One of them is my new favorite and looks like Rainbow Brite...when I get the pic up, you'll know what I mean

I've gotten it from this website:

http://www.identi-tape.com/links.html

Warning on that tape though--it has backing and doesn't stretch well. I did 2 or 3 hoops with fun sparkly tape and it was SO annoying to do. I switched back to electrical tape because it's forgiving Don't know though if anyone else has any other sources of fun tape that's more user friendly?

I think that's what I got, too. It's for potable water? I couldn't find anything black, but this one said 3/4" and 160psi so I figured it would work.

The colored tape was expensive! Holy moly! It doesn't need to be taped though, right? I figured I'd start with the hoop and go from there.

After all of this effort, I'd better be able to learn this time!

Oh my! This thing is AMAZING!! I put the white pipe stuff together tonight (took what? 2 minutes? I didn't tape it) and I'm beside myself. I can keep it off the ground!!!!!! : : :

I've tried those cheap toy store hoops 29475028274 times and could never do it. This thing is magical. I am in love.

Greatest thread ever. : :

I couldn't sleep last night so I started browsing threads and ran across this. Lets make a short story even shorter and say that I have tubing, couplers and tape sitting here next to me now. My kids are totally stoked, as am I.

Okay, so I got them all made. One for me and each of my sons.

Pic

Each kiddo chose their favorite color tape for the stripes (red, blue and orange) and I did my favorite... rainbow

I tried to get a few shots of the kids "hoopy-looping" but the only camera I have is on my phone and it just didn't end well.

there is hope!

hey there all you mamas who think you can't hoop...i have been really interested in hooping, but a bit intimidated b/c even as a kid, I could never do it! and i was a gymnast so i was definitely flexible...WELL, last night i was over at a friend's house and she has a few hoops(the nice, home made, heavier ones), I picked one up, stepped into it, gave it a whirl, and.....YES!!: I WAS HOOPING!!!! I couldn't stop!I was hooping, and smiling and giggling, and then after a few minutes I was even sweating. It was awesome, and I just wanted to share that with you all. My friend said I could borrow it, but somehow with two kiddos, diaper bag, etc, it didn't make it to the car. This week I am going to clear a spot in my basement and go grab that thing and get to hooping!

Sunny~

Glad you found the hoop love. I have not been able to hoop really bc of my pregnancy (had a scare so I was given limitations).

Have fun hooping it up!!
