I am watching "Taboo" on channel NGC episode entitled "Extreme Kids". In it they show children taught to kickbox and other forms of marshal arts for money. They show young children allowed to participate in ritual blood letting, and a boy of 5 yo who still breastfeeds! They are all shown as "taboo" and have "experts" talking about it's inappropriateness! It is not over yet- I pray they show the other side too! I am so upset!!!!

Thank goodness they are redeeming themselves a bit. I hope no one watched the beginning of that segment and didn't stick around for the counterpoints!

It looks like that family co-sleeps too

They actually did a wonderful job with it. I think taboo is a great show to talk about it--because a lot of people really *do* consider it taboo/extreme while others consider it totally normal.

They have experts talking about the worldwide weaning average, and the comparison to other primates... the sexualization of breasts... the last clip has an expert talking about how good "full term nursing" is The mama also talks about how her older son, weaned at 14mo, is *less* independent than the one who's still nursing.

I was actually just coming on to post about it, I was shocked at how great a job they did on it!

Yes they did wind up doing a good job. At first I was appalled because of how they had categorized it. Then their first comments and experts were judgemental. However at the end they did finish very positively and overall it was a for EBF.

i thought it was great really. i didnt catch the lead up, just after the commercial, the main body of the segment.
they did a great job, and really put EBF in a positive light

Interesting...I do recall seeing the one with the martial arts kid, I didn't see anything about BF'ing though, must've been a different one...
