Ugg. I Saw the Cutest Knit Hat.....

I Saw the Cutest Knit Hat..... and thought. Oh, I can find that pattern on-ine somewhere and make it myself.

Well, I was so wrong!!!

Can't find it anywhere.

It is a cap that fit my 3 yr old.

Knit in the round.

Every other row (for 3/4 of the hat/cap) was a raised ridge.

I could see the decrease of stitches around the top

Had three or four cords knit and tied at the top.

Sound familiar???

Here is a link to a simliar hat.

Any other ideas where to look for a patternz/

Thanks!

Well, the raised ridge is a purl row: you can do that. The cords at the top are i-cords: you're knitting in the round anyway, so you can do that. And the rest of it, you design yourself
Measure the child's head circumference, do a gauge swatch, cast on. Do two inches in ribbing, switch to garter stitch, work for several inches (fiveish? Maybe six?). Decrease evenly every other row. When you have nine or twelve stitches left, work an i-cord on each one of them for several inches (as long as you want, basically) and arrange them attractively. Job done

Something like this, maybe?

I bet you could find something really close on knitting pattern central, too.

you could add more ridges and i-cord to the top to make loops. It is in the book Kid's Knitting, maybe your library has a copy?

here is a similar one, but the pattern is 5.50
