How are you feeling?

My milk is really in and its a bit uncomfortable. I'm completely busting out of my bras and hope I don't need to buy more. I have to special order and they are expensive!

dd was really sleepy all day Saturday. I keep trying to remind myself that its normal and there is nothing wrong. I'm a huge worry wart and keep worrying about all the little things. This is my third time and I still worry!

I spent way too long at my inlaws and think I'll need to take it easy all day to make up for it.
Monday we've got plans so I need to rest up!

Hello...checking in. I am finding I am very emotiona. I think I just have been upset that I swore my baby would come on 8/8, and then my due date was yesterday 8/9. It really hit how disappointed I am with missing the homebirth experience. Does not help that DH and I are having a big talk tonight about filing for divorce or atleast a seperation.

Kasey is doing ok...nursing is horrible though. She is the WORST nurser I have ever had We use a nipple shield, which makes me feel like crap. I feel like I am doing something wrong that I cannot seem to teach this baby how to nurse. I know...I am just being hard on myself.

Past that though she is an awsome baby!!! I cannot believe it has already been almost 4 weeks!!! She is such a cutie pie...and I know it was only accidental...but I have seen a few of the most beautiful smiles out of her

Hope all is well with everyone else!!

Oh wow, that has to be emotional. So sorry to hear that.

Nipples hurt like a mofo. My crotch doesn't feel to hot either but the hospital gave me what is basically a spray can of numbing medicine. Good stuff.

i was hoping that my back pain would resolve shortly after having the baby but it hasn't yet. i feel sore all over, particularly my bottom. hopefully we can go to a chiropractor soon so both baby and i can be readjusted. i'm having a hard time nursing him, he won't open his mouth wide enough to latch on properly. at first i thought that maybe he had a small mouth but he opens his mouth much wider when he yawns, so it's pretty frustrating. i'm hopeful that we will work through it though.

My tailbone hurts too. I had pain there during pregnancy and now its being exacerbated by the way I sit to nurse. I am going to the chiropractor tomorrow. I'm concerned about being adjusted with my very sore breasts though. I'm so engorged and am getting early signs of mastitis (which I've had at least a dozen times in varying degrees of severity so I recognize it early) which I'm hoping to ward off.

You just have to keep working on the nursing. www.kellymom.com and La Leche League's websites have really good info on latch and tips you can look up too.

Alicia, Are you taking anything to help with the blues or prevent PPD? Motherwort tincture is very good. If you kept your placenta it can be dried and put in capsules as well.

Anyone having postpartum contractions? I know I am only 2 days out but holy sh*t batman, those puppies are taking me down! I am wondering when they will stop? The nurse's said that with more babies (thisi s my 4th) it takes your uturus longer to contract and work harder to get back.

Milk is definitely in but the nursing sucks. I've tried every tip on every website for every org. Im givingup though. I'll just keep offering the breast before formula and go from there. At this point, I HAVE to wake up with him since pumping is a VERY slow process. I can barely get alot out. But I'm sticking with it. I refuse to be outdone by my boobs.

Kendall is sleeping well. Today he's been going for 4 hours. He seems so sleepy but my mom says this is normal. We both have doc appts tomorrow so I'm getting everything ready today. DP has to work so my brother is going to take us.

Other than that, I feel pretty great. Semi-washed my hair today and will do some curling to it tonight to prep for tomorrow. I really need to shave my legs (I'm starting to look like a Yeti) so that's tonight's chore.

I think I mentioned this yesterday but I'm really feeling like DP just doesn't like me sexually anymore. Ok, I know we can't have sex but he can at least hold me or spoon me at night like he used. He doesn't do that anymore. I mean, I truly feel like crap. I want to say something to him but I feel like he may look at me cross-eyed and ignore it.

Oh the afterpains are awful. Baby number five so they are just at the top of the pain scale. Not anywhere near the rate that true labor contractions got, but enough to make me want to cuss, lol.

I am now 3 days pp and they are getting a bit better, but still very ouch.

Baby's cord fell off yesterday morning, I kept it for my scrapbook! He is doing awesome, sleeps, eats and poops like no other baby I think My girls never were so good, I guess I should blame it to my calm birth compared to my other ones of course. He spoils me so much, I love him!!!

My H are gone but my MW sent me on a bed rest for a few days, I got an episiotomy with my first and the birth of Roberto Carlos gave me a tiny superficial tear that we didn't see at the time of the birth. To prevent infection, I was told to stay in bed and do no chores at all... tell me if I'm complaining Hubby is been so good in that part

After pains are gone thankfully and engorgement is getting better, I just massage every time I am nursing.

Monique don't give up!!! You are doing great!!! Keep it up, dump the pump and get Lansinoh nipple cream, I swear by it... If you keep pumping and giving formula then breastfeeding is jeopardized Demand and Supply, don't forget that!!! you can do it mama...

I'll pick some up tomorrow when we leave the doctor's office. So what does the cream do?

It helps sooth the nipples, you can apply before and after each feeding. It's totally safe for the baby. I always get a bottle, it's the miracle cream like I call it!

:
I agree. Ditch the formula and the bottles. They are only doing more damage in the long run. Babe will start to prefer the bottles as it is easier for him to get milk from without having to perfect his latch.
Keep it up - I know that it seems overwhelming at first, but you can do it!!
If you absolutely must top up with formula, you should use a Lactation Aid with pumped breastmilk. http://http://www.breastfeedingonline.com/newman.shtml See "Handout #5" for more info.
You should also look into consulting with a Lactation consultant.
You are a great Mom - don't give up!! I promise that it will get easier.

Yep, that sums it up nicely! Using Lanolin, but man, OW!

Alicia That is so much to deal with right now. I really hope you can take something to help ward off ppd.

C-section area still hurting, but a little less each day. Staples were removed on Friday, and I have a post-op checkup on the 19th. I can't drive until after that checkup, which is annoying, but I don't feel like getting out and about yet anyway.
Levi is sleepy from the jaundice, but that is clearing more every day. Last night was his most awake period yet - unfortunately it was from 11pm-4am!

By Day 3 they are normally gone or at least much better.

What problems are you having with nursing, exactly? Have you called La Leche League yet?

I think you should talk to your dp. Let him know you'd like a back rub or a hug. He may be really overwhelmed too and just not know what to do.

Monique, you can do it. I have faith in you. Just keep reminding yourself that it is what's best for him. I agree with Megan, definitely contact your local LLL.

Also, my DH was a little weirded out right after our DD was born (same as right when I got pregnant). He seemed to have a hard time thinking of me as his lover and not just the mother of his daughter. KWIM? He got over it quickly though. Just remind him that you are still the same person, just have another hat to wear now.
