Hi, I'm an occasional lurker and rare poster (when time allows). I'm on a business trip to NYC and I wanted to just take a moment to let you traveling mamas know that the Intercontinental Barclay refuses to freeze pumped breastmilk in its restaurant (or any other) freezer. I have to check out of my room at noon and I need to get back to my conference and my flight leaves at 8 pm. I have no place to store my pumped breastmilk as ice will melt in FAR fewer than the 5 hours it would be before I could refresh it and, as the airport doesn't allow cold packs (and again, the hotel wouldn't freeeze them for me anyway) I don't have them either.
I'm facing the possibility of dumping my milk. I travel a lot for work (and have been out of the country three times in May-June) and have only faced this problem ONCE before (in L.A.). US and worldwide hotels have been able to accomodate my need to freeze my BM so that it will survive the plane trip (trans-Atlantic at times!) home.
I hope my experience causes you to ask more questions (I should have learned my lesson in LA and asked more) and maybe even to boycott Intercontinental Hotels (at least the one in NYC) for a policy that makes pumping and working very, very hard.
