Thank you for posting this.
I have been really wanting to do this, but it has been a bit intimidating for me. Your story and instructions make it seem so much more attainable.
I am so glad that you had the results that you did. Nice work!

ETA: Is that your dehydrator? Where did you get it?

I was too! Until I googled a simple recipe. My hubby got it through their site, something like excaliburdehydrator.com something like that... I think he got the cheapo one, 4 trays only. We do a lot of raw foods so this is like my second oven!

Thank you so much!! I'm going to show this to dh and ask for his help. We have a dehydrator too so hopefully he will be up for it. Thanks again!

Any reason not to just use the oven to dry it out?

And I must thank you as well, I was really not into the idea at all, just seems like cannibalism to eat a part of your own body... but taking it in pill form doesn't bug me and I know its really beneficial.

One question, you said you keep it ON your freezer... did you mean IN?

I didn't realize it was that easy! Thanks for posting this!

Did you do the encapsulation or did your DH? I'd have to do it myself. I assume you use fresh not frozen placenta right? I actually have an Excalibur Dehydrator in storage that I haven't used in awhile. Oh and how did you get the powder into the empty capsules? Do you buy the empty capsules at a vitamin store?

I didn't like the idea either, but I eat beef tataki and sushi so why not trying this I squeezed a lemon and sprinkled some sea salt and it tasted okay. But I did it like if I was taking some sort of remedy, kwim? I rather do it in the dehydrator... since it helps to preserve the nutrients intact without killing them. We do a lot of raw foods so we are true believers of living foods. Sorry, yes I meant IN the freezer... it's the latina in me ya know...

I did it myself, my mom did help me with the membranes and she helped me to drain the placenta until there was no blood. I did the blender step til the encapsulation. I just took the capsules themselves (from whole foods) to filled them up like little buckets. I tried with a tiny spoon but it was taking too long. I did all that while watching TV.

Just curious what's the importance of taking out the membranes?

Subbing because I am really interested but don't have a dehydrator. My midwives did mention that there may be someone locally that will do it for you but I have yet to get her number.

it's just a preference I guess... I am doing it raw so I decided to take the membranes off the placenta. Also a lot of recipes for encapsulation, calls for this step. Some where you cook the placenta, also tells you to cook the cord and membranes. But I didn't cook the placenta, I also dehydrated the placenta under a temperature where the placenta will be still considered raw but dried.

I think you could this with your regular oven in the lowest setting i guess.... ?
