Baby Imaan is here...what an evening!! Story...

Around 7:55 p.m. cst on 8/10, I felt a lot of pressure; K (hubby) was at Wal-Mart. I called him and told him to hurry; contractions started one on top of another, par for the course for me...:

Here's the exciting part. K got home, and we left right away, at about 8:20. We were still in our neighborhood when I mentioned to K that we may not make it to the hospital. : Well, about 15 minutes later and one block from the hospital...my water broke...yep, all over the inside of the van. Kamran turned into the parking lot of the ER, and well...I delivered Imaan's head right there, in the front seat of our van...feet on the dashboard...there she came. K was inside getting anyone who could hear him holler for help. A security guard and an ER nurse came flying out to the car just in time to catch the rest of Imaan. She literally just came out. I was applying counterpressure to her head, but she wanted out...now! My van is a mess, Kamran's eyes were the size of saucers, Imaan is doing great, thank God.

She weighed in at 7 lbs, 11 oz, and is 19.5 inches long. Birth time was 8:42 p.m.cst (yes, that's a 45 minute labor) I'll post pics in a bit. I'm so happy she's here, and so happy we're all safe.

Congratulations! :

OK so, honestly... where does this 12 hour average for labor come from!?!? We're going to need a lot of 30+ hour labors in this DDC to have that kind of average.

Very slippery babies around here.

Thanks all...I actually did pretty much deliver her, lol. I am very fortunate to have very fast labors; it was just a matter of time before one was born before we got to the hospital...

I wanted to do a homebirth, but I had gestational diabetes (although it was very mild, and ironically, birthing in the car had no ill effects, lol). Her glucose levels were perfect.

After delivery, this is where I've been:

I had a rough couple of days; as I was leaving the hospital I started feeling intense pain in my left kidney and groin...familiar feeling of a kidney stone. They did an u/s and found it...i was sent home on vicodin to deal with the pain...the next day the pain was so bad I went back to the ER for more help. They did a CT scan and realized the stone was huge; 5mm by 9mm! It had passed through the ureter but was stuck at the junction into the bladder, causing an obstruction; my kidney was swelling...thankfully no infection though I needed bad.

I had surgery to remove the stone on Thursday evening...anesthesia and everything...it was a nightmare. I have a stent in my left ureter until Monday; that thing is uncomfortable, but better than the **** stone.

Meanwhile, I'm breastfeeding Emaan, she has jaundice...we get through that ok, but now I'm just...exhausted.

I didn't want you all to think I just disappeared.

Moral of the story: I can deliver my own 7 lb., 11 oz. baby in the car easily, but I need surgery to deliver a 5mm by 9mm calcium oxalate kidney stone. Irony.

P.S. it seems there is a global announcement asking for help in the hospital when a delivery is happening in the parking lot. When I went back for the surgery, I was known...recognized...as the woman who delivered in the parking lot. Emaan was considered a little hero too. This is the silver lining to my nightmare.
