So what's the deal with bloody show? Help, please!

I had blood but it was totally different from what I expected it to be. It wasn't a clump of bloody mucous, it was bright red discharge. I'm cool with that, because my mucous plug has been lost in little pieces with a lot of watery discharge. So I guess that's normal.

My question is, is it a one time event? Does it come back? I guess I was kind of under the impression that it lasted until you went into labor but I just had it once when I went to the bathroom and it hasn't been back.

I guess I'm just wondering if what I had was really bloody show.

I know you can have spotting from a cervical exam or sex. I DTD that day (we do every day and this has never happened), but it was way too far removed from that (7 hours) to be bright red.

Please enlighten me with your bloody show wisdom

When I've had bloody show in the past it's been a very thick, bloody mucus that has lasted until I've delivered the baby (albeit, in varying quantities), usually a few days.

And there is my limited knowledge of bloody show.

I guess it's different for everyone.

I talked to my MW and she said that usually it comes and goes, that I might see it again or I might not. Either way she sounded excited and she thinks I'll probably start having some contractions within the next few days. (my EDD is thursday)

I still think it'll be a week or more. I don't know if it's denial or I just don't want to set myself up like I did with the last false alarm.

Hmm, I never had it in advance of labor. Sounds very promising!!!
