Posting for a friend. She's not able to find anyone who will support her wishes for a VBA2C.

Help!?!?!

I know someone who just had her VBA2c with Dr. Anthony Giovine's office in Monmouth County. They have a couple locations - Little Silver, Colts Neck and Lakewood.

Dana is on vacation or she'd be on here in a heartbeat. Her id is dlm??? (I just know the first few letters). If you keep this bumped, she'll get on and let you know. She's involved in ICAN. You might check their website.

I belong to ICAN too although Dana is much more knowledgeable than me Dr. Burbella just told one of the women in our ICAN group that he would do a VBA2C. Check out the Somerset ICAN group for some other good info:

If she's serious about VBA2C I would highly highly recommend that she attend ICAN meetings.

I'm here! Back from a long vacation with very little internet access.

Dr. Giovine and Dr Burbella would be my first suggestions! Both are vbac friendly. Dr. Giovine is in Monmouth County and he is the go-to doctor for vbac. Dr. Burbella is in Mercer county (near Trenton); he backs up my midwives. I delivered at his hospital (Capital Health) and they were very hands-off and not concerned about my vbac status. They have wireless monitoring giving you the freedom to move about.

In South Jersey, Mullica Hill OB may consider a vba2c if you go into labor by 39 weeks. http://www.womenshealthcaremh.com/ I know that's not great but at least it's a shot.

If your friend is anywhere near Philly or North of Philly (like NJ but close to the PA border), I might have some other suggestions.

I had one doula client successfully vba2c at Cooper Hospital, not sure of the doc though. All of the homebirth midwives in the area that I know of do vbacs.

thanks so much for the info, its for me she is asking (i'm here zac, i've been meaning to join for a while ). Does anyone know of anyone in Morris county? Or close to Morris county, maybe Bergen...?

These are all at least 1- 1 1/2 hours away without traffic

Thanks for your help

You could try contacting Lonnie Morris: http://www.childbirthcenter.net/

She used to be able to attend vba2c. Her hospital closed but it looks like she is now attending vbacs at Palisades. I don't know if she can still attend vba2c but it would be worth a shot!!

I traveled an hour for my vbac. It was totally worth it. A lot of women in NJ wind up traveling quite a bit for a vbac because there are so few truly supportive vbac providers around.

Glad you're here, StampMom!

Stampmom, have you tried the Avalon midwives? They deliver at Morristown Hospital. I've heard them highly recommended here. No idea personally whether they can do VBA2C but someone here probably knows what their restrictions are.

I delivered with Lonnie Morris's group (not VBAC but a great NCB), she's a real old-timer and VBAC champion. Her offices are now in Fort Lee so really depends how much of a schlep that is for you.

Good luck -

I don't know if they "can't" or "won't", but after my VBAC attempt failed this April (double nuchal cord, baby never descended) I did ask the attending MW about it. I said, "So the next one...?" and she finished, "...will be a c-section."

It'll be a long time before I have to make the decision (my baby's only 3 months old) but I'm coming to terms with what I'm going to have to do.

that's what its come down to here, unfortunately. I contacted both Avalon midwives and Lonnie Morris myself, months ago. neither are 'allowed' to attend vba2c anymore, and both basically said, 'just concentrate on a healthy baby' and wished me luck. I feel like I've turned nearly every stone at this point, but I'm at peace with our decision now. It does make me tremendously sad, though. Sigh.

I'm so bummed to hear that. Have you contacted any doctors to see if they would support a vba2c? There are several doctors that are fairly open to supporting vbacs. I just don't know if they are open to vba2c. Sadly, back up doctors can dictate what a midwife can do.
