Hemorrhoid Treatment by Infrared Coagulation

Has anyone had hemorrhoids treated this way? Did it work? Is it a scam? How much did it cost? Did your insurance cover it? I would rather nt have surgery - but that is waht I am looking at, at this point. but I keep seeing ads for this, but it sounds to good to be true (realtively speaking - nothing is good with hemorrhoids When I google, I don't find much in the way of real testimonials, just ads.

TIA

I felt bad that your thread had no replies so I did some Googling for you. It looks like a legitimate technique!

Why don't you ask your health care provider about it? It sounds like the type of thing for which you might need referral to a specialist.

Best of luck! Hemorrhoids suck.

Hi Norasmom! Thanks for your help. I did ask two different care providers about it (GI and Internist), neither had any info abouit it - the gi even claimed to have not even heard of it. I have been a candidate for surgery for 4 years now - but did not want to do that. I finally called the Hemorrhoid relief center in my area yesterday (the ones I use to get the ads for in the mailer for inraredcoagulation) only to find out that they closed both offices. I just would really like some first hand experience form someone I "know". IRL, I know of two people who have had hemroidectomy (sp), thats all. I really don't want to have surgery.

Thanks againm,, naking

It's so annoying when doctors haven't heard of something you bring up at an appt., especially when it is a recognized treatment for a common affliction - they are supposed to be the experts! (Don't doctors ever Google? )
