Breast milk 'helps babies fight off stomach bugs'

The Australian and Swiss researchers found that the breast milk compounds, which are not found in cow's milk, can also tackle Helicobacter pylori, a stomach-dwelling bug which can cause ulcers and is linked to cancer.

The study, published in the Journal of Proteome Research, is far from the first to support the benefits of breast milk.

Yep, it definitely does. Anecdotally, last year my whole family was massively sick with the flu (throwing up for days, diarrhea, the works), and my nursing daughter didn't get it.

cool! I know when DD was only 3 weeks old and I was on my own with all 3 kids, she was the only one who never got sick even though the rest of us were dealing with the worst bug ever.Brest milk is awesome!!!

Oh, I have seen this first hand. Awhile back our entire family got the horrible flu! It was awful! I honestly thought I wasn't going to make it. But I laid there on the couch through my agony and pain and pumped and pumped and pumped. I would get a measly 1-2 ounces, but I made sure BabyBoy got whatever I pumped each day. And of the 6 of us in the house, he is only one who didn't get the flu!

Would that then mean that breastmilk could be used in adults suffering from ulcers caused by the helicopter pylons ().
