Hello all,

I have seen some diapers that has really cute pattern fabric on top of it for look.

but what do you mamas use? Broadcloth? Apparel fabrics?

Sorry for my such newbie question, LoL!

Just about anything can be used for the outer of a fitted diaper. I've seen denim, cotton wovens, knits, velour... just about anything, really. I love velour, printed knits and quilting cottons, personally.

Ah - thank you!

I was wondering if these were possible because of the nature of CD - lots of abuse via loads of washings, baby using it....

Cottons can tend to wick at the edges.

Hello mama,

I am not sure what that means? Cotton wicking at the edges? May I ask what do you suggest for fabrics please?

Thank you! :0)

Are you meaning for the outside of a waterproof cover/pocket diaper or the outside of a fitted diaper that would then be covered by a seperate cover?

My experience has been that cotton fabrics on the outside of a cover or pocket diaper tend to wick wetness around the edges. Using fold over elastic and making sure that the waterproof layer is marginally larger at the edges prevents this somewhat, but not completely. I've used less natural/poly fabrics with greater success.
