Hi everyone,

I need a religious exemption form for California for my son tomorrow. Does anyone know of a place online I can print one from?

IIRC, the exemption is part of the vax form that everyone else submits.

Thanks! I found it! You've been very helpful with the whole daycare issue. I'm crossing my fingers it works out tomorrow. Thanks so much!

So it will be part of the packet that they give you...the big blue card?

I just got a letter today telling me I need to fill out some forms and in the letter, it said, " The California Health Dept. has a " No Shots, No preschool" policy. My dd is not vaxed. I never had a problem with my ds as he went to a Park and Rec type of preschool and vaxes weren't needed. And then I filled out the waiver on the back of the big blue form when he went to public kindergarten last year. This is a private religious preschool. I LOVE the school, but I'm so nervous about them saying she can't go to school because of her non vaccinated status.

Oh, and we are in San Diego county too....North County. ugh.

Philosophical exemptions are also allowed in CA. It may not cause as much friction as using a religious exemption in a religious school. There's a box to check on the VAX card for philosophical.

The ONLY exemptions in California are philosophical and medical. The philosophical exemption includes any beliefs against vaccines, including religious.

The blue card, which can be printed out double sided on blue paper if they don't give it to you, is the only paperwork you will need. It can be found here: http://www.cdph.ca.gov/pubsforms/for...niz/pm286b.pdf

When I've signed up my kids for school the office has the blue cards. You just flip it over and on the back is the exemption - sign it and hand it back.

Because the school is private, I believe that they may be able to exclude your son. Anyone else know if that's the case?

I'm in PQ, where are you?

That's what I'm worried about...that because they are private, they can do what they want. BUT...they are using the whole line that it's the "San Diego Health Dept. that says "No shots, No preschool" so I'm hoping I have a leg to stand on.

I'm in O'side. Where's PQ?

Exemptions are part of vax law, and luckily the vax form and exemption are the same in CA.

Just wanted to update for anyone interested....

I went to an info night at my dd's preschool to turn in paperwork and have the vax card photocopied. I went up to the director privately and asked, "Do you have the blue forms for the vaccinations?" She said that yes, she did, but that she filled them out after getting the photocopy vax cards. I said, " I need to sign the back" It took a second, but then she got what I was saying and she said, "Okay, that's fine" I asked if there were going to be any problems and she said, " No, but the health dept. has been a lot of pressure on us to try enforce the vax policies" I told her that I understood but that I didn't need anything explained to me. She later told me when I was signing the form and filling it out that she didn't see my dd needing to be pulled out for any class time since they hadn't had a case of Chicken Pox or Measles for years. I smiled and said, " Well, if you DO get a case of Chicken Pox, pull Carlee out of class to hug and kiss that child and THEN call me!" She laughed.

Soooo, long story short...everything went great and had no problems with this preschool taking the exemption/waiver and my dd is starting t/th half day preschool on Sept. 2nd. YAH for California!!!
