Looking for Pediatrician

I'm in setauket and not happy with our current pediatrician. Does anyone know of a ped. who supports AP, co sleeping, breastfeeding, and is open minded about vacs? I need someone who is fairly close by. Thanks!

I second the recommendation. It was too far for me once I went back to work, but I really like & respect her.

I am thinking of starting an AP playgroup once a month for all LI mommas but especially for those of us in Western Nassau.

If anyone would be interested, please PM me!

Thanks!

while we are on the subject of doctors... I need one for me!! I am really looking for a naturopathic/homeopathic doctor, but will settle for a very holistic physician as well.. does Dr wightman only see peds??
I am in manorville, and work full time, so i can't drive super far...
help!! i think i have IBS, so i am desperate to get in and see someone who will not just prescribe metamucil and say i have to live with it!!

Dr. Wightman sees adults as well. As far as naturopaths go, there is Dr. Ashley Lewin in Riverhead and Dr, Steve Nenninger in Port Jeff

Cedar Beach hike Friday

Several people had mentioned going for a hike from around the Rocky Point/Miller Place/SOund Bch area. Weather permiting, how about t his Friday? If not, maybe the nicest day next week? We like to get out and enjoy the fresh air so don't mind bundling up. The trail to the nature center and then continuing on to the pier is a nice trail and no worries of cars. Then afterwards theres the playground if anyone wants. We wnet and collected seashells too lsat week after the hike.

Here's FRi's weather:

Friday, Nov 14More Details Cloudy, rain possible; warmerLow: 48 °FHigh: 60 °

Maybe closer to Friday we could see if the morning looks ok... we could get out before the rain comes in. Or vice versa. The nice thing is it's not a trail where it gets muddy or anything!
Looking forward to meeting others who've expressed interest!

Dr. Wightman

Dr. Wightman was wonderful!! My daughter and I both loved her. Has anyone done chiropractic for baby? I read it can really help with digestion and sleep. Any good ped. chiropractors on the north shore?

I've brought my littlest guy (now 4 months) to Dr. Sherr about 6 or 7 times for gut issues, which are all worked out now. He's at the Northport Wellness Center in E. Northport. Every time I went there was at least one other baby or toddler in the waiting room for him.

Can we try again for a hike, maybe early December? Anyone up for going to Cedar Beach then?

Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Shanna, I have a 21 month old son Joshua and I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my second. We live in Levittown, and it would be great to actually meet some other moms like me. My son still nurses and cosleeps, and the older he gets the more apparent the differences between us and the other families in our playgroup become.

Cedar Beach or other out east hike and/or playdate

Hey Athena,
I am loving Cedar Beach right now! Yes, let's try for the first week of December! I can't do it Thursday of that week but other days would work.

We could see if any of the days are substantially better as far as weather.

And Athena, I hope you are getting some sleep over there!! I see you wrote at 2 a.m.

If anyone else is available and wants to meet, let us know! We could also choose some kind of rain location - not much is coming to mind other than a local library. I love mine because they are so accommodating and they are really child-friendly in the childrens section (I've noticed some aren't!). D/k if its too far east though - it's past Rocky Point at the Shoreham/Wading River library/high school. There's great trails there too for hiking, and they don't have to be too long. If anyone knows of good places to meet here - a child friendly cafe? - that would be great to know and I'm all ears!

Cedar Beach or other out east hike and/or playdate

I know I wasn't here when the original hike was planned but the LO and I would love to join you for whatever sort of get-together is planned during that first week in December. We're pretty flexible so I will just keep an eye out for when/where you decide on

Hey,
Does anyone, know anyone who might know a good pediatrician in Brooklyn who is no vax/breastfeeding friendly? I need it for a friend.

response to Mary and about hike next week!!

1st, 3rd, or 5th would be best for me for the hike next week. Athena when do you get back into town? I imagine Monday the 1st won't be good! So maybe 3rd or 5th?

Mary, your friend might want to join the API-NYC yahoo group. THey have files of peds people have recommended and there would be choices on there as well as your friend could ask specifically for what they are looking for and what area. There are just so many people on the yahoo group so she should get enough feedback to have some options!
