Babywearing/ cloth diapering meeting in Lindenhurst

Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all enjoying summer.It was on busy june for my family, and somehow we spaced out with our usual baby wearing meetings.
Time to get back on track...
We are having babywearing meeting this coming wednesday, july 7th, starting around 1pm,in Lindenhurst, hope that time works for most of you.There will be many baby carriers to demonstrate and try on, bring questions and baby gear to show off.Also, as usual , we will talk about cloth diapering and EC, love seeing more interest in that subject.Kids all ages are welcome. Also feel free to ask any questions related to natural/attachment parenting.

Raw milk

Does anyone know where I can find real RAW milk?
I thought I saw some at Wild By Nature, but I am trying to find different sources.

I'd love to know too. I know my neighbor got some out in Riverhead at one of the farmstands but only because she knows the owner.

Yes! The Milk Way milk club has a bi-weekly delivery in Riverhead. The annual fee is $10, and they do ask they you join the Weston A. Price foundation. The milk costs $6.50/half-gallon, and they also have butter, cream, different cuts of beef and chicken. Email Linda to join [e-mail]

Wild by nature does not sell raw milk. It is illegal for stores to sell it here in NY. they do sell unhomogonized and single pasteurized milk but it is still pasteurized

there are a few farms in PA that deliver here. I go the east northport pick up.
They also have a greenvale pick up and rockville center.
You need to join CARE it is $20 a year. PM me if you want the info

Aneta, I met you the other day at the beach, I'd love to get together for a BW meeting this summer.

I've wanted to post for weeks but I'm finally getting around to it. I had an amazing homebirth 12 weeks ago with Julie Toner. She works along with Dale Cook, and just opened her own office in Islip. She was really great and very easy-going. I really wanted to get her name out there because she's on the South Shore and I know there aren't many HB midwives around here. I can't say enough about her.

Im new to this board - my kids are 15 and 12 - now I find myself due with my third (surprise!) in about two weeks. I am planning a HWB with Dale Cook and her assistant is Julie Toner. I know Dale, but only met Julie for the first time two weeks ago, she sort of rubbed me the wrong way - im glad your experience with her was good.
I am currently seeking a recommendation for a pediatrician in the Long Beach area who is OK with BFeeding, Co Sleeping and delayed Vax. I realize i have let this go a little late - any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Congrats on your third! Since I moved out of state I had no idea you were expecting. I had a Bradley studet that lives in Long Beach. She is a homebirther with the same interest as you in a doc. I will email you as soon as I hear back from her. From what I recall, the closest dr. I had on my referral list was in BALDWIN> I will look for the name now.

Question about Stonybrook Midwives Baby Bonus Program

Hi Mamas,

I'm wondering if any of you have recent experience with the Stonybrook Midwives Baby Bonus Program? I'm thinking of giving birth there, but I've been told by several moms that when the hospital got busy the nurses did not honor the "Baby Bonus Program" (which allows newborns to be bathed in same room with mom) and instead their babies were whisked off to a nursery and put in an incubator before being given a bath - sometimes meaning the new mom and baby were separated for several hours . I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who has given birth at StonyBrook within the past two years and had a successful experience with the Baby Bonus Program? I'm wondering if maybe these women had bad experiences a few years ago and the program is better now? thanks so much for your input! Feel free to PM me.

I gave birth there in 2008 and had a positive experience They had warned me ahead of time that there are rare occasions when they can't accommodate the Babies Bonus Program, typically if the baby needs closer monitoring (understandable) or if they don't have adequate nursing staff to be able to come around to rooms to check babies' vitals. They did take dd to the nursery about an hour after she was born, but they were totally cool with dh going along with her, and she was brought back within an hour. Really, once we got settled it, they pretty much left us alone, which was fine with me.

Thanks Jugs for your input on the Stony Brook baby bonus program. I'm also looking into homebirth options and was glad to see a couple of comments about Dale Cook's partner Julie Toner (above). I thought Susand Brockman also sounded great, but she is in Nassau county and i'm in mid-suffolk. I haven't found others midwives who do homebirths in mid-suffolk yet (north shore). Also, in case you haven't found a ped, I adore Dr. Greg Gulbransen at Oyster Bay Pediatrics. We've spent that past few summers in NY and found him on the recommendation of a lactation consultant friend. We did end up opting to vax, but he was very open to letting us work out our own schedule. Manhasset. Great staff. Easy to get an appointment. Never waited more than 5 - 10 mins.

I have been taking my Lo's to Dr. Richard lippman. He is located on Merrick Road in Baldwin. He is pro BF and has been very open minded with me. We co-sleep and don't vax. The office is open 7 days a week.

Just want to let everyone know, in case others are looking- I'm enjoying the PreNatal class at Absolute Yoga in Woodbury!

Also, I'm looking for any meet ups or good classes for parents to be so my Husband and I can start interacting with some other pregnant families! I'm due with our first in early January and would love to make some connections now so we have some people to socialize with who "get it" after the baby comes!
I just joined the Floral Park La Leche League group to find out when their next meeting is, but would love any other leads!

Hi Akbernard. Glad you like the prenatal yoga. I've been looking for one on the South Shore. Looks like there's a studio opening in either Oceanside or Freeport this month that offers prenatal yoga. I'm also looking into a La Leche meeting but probably the Lynbrook one. What do they do at meetings, do you know?

Hello Long Island mamas! I am so excited to find this thread. My family is in the process of moving to LI- Garden City, to be exact, and would love to meet people in the area. Is there anyone in this area? I have two boys, 9 and 5 yo, who will be attending the Waldorf school. I am also looking for suggestions on where one can buy eco-furniture (on LI or online). i hope you guys can help me. i've been struggling a lot with just not feeling well. i have a regular primary doctor who is fine. i just really go to him for an annual checkup, bloodwork, etc. and everything testable always checks out fine.

but i've been thinking recently that i really need someone who can look at my body as a whole and try to work on whatever is making me feel so unwell all the time.

does anyone have a doctor like this on long island that they can recommend? i'm on the north shore of nassau county but can travel further than that once in awhile if need be.
