Do cotton-covered covers wick?

I just made a cotton-covered (with bum ruffles - so cute!) PUL-lined cover for dd. I bound the edges/covered the elastic with a narrow strip of PUL, kind of like I would use a bias tape or quilt binding. But then I wondered if the pee would wick through the stitching in the binding. Maybe I don't care though because I change her often and this cover is just so darn cute!

What do you think?

I'm not able to view the picture, but it sounds cute!

I have been diaper-making but none of my creations have been used so this is just based on what I've read (mostly here).

I've read that wicking at the seams/edges of a diaper cover will be more likely to happen if you use cotton thread. Ppl recommend using polyester thread for diapers, esp. diaper covers so it won't wick.

Another recommendation I've read is to put the diaper cover in the dryer on hot and it sortof reseals the holes punched by the sewing machine needle.

There are also water-proofing treatments/sprays that you could use along the edges.

Honestly I would just wait until you can try it out and see if wicking happens before doing any treatments on it.

Sounds like you made a very nice cover!
