P.S.( A funny thing...I had a momma tell me-she had 5 DC-that she stood at the doorway as her DC returned home from school. Each DC was handed a tablespoon of PB and a small glass of H2O-and to go to thier rooms for 15 mins to relax.) Her point, was that her DC were bears after school, until she figured out this little trick-then when the DC came out of their rooms, there was minimal figthting, less stress, and more happiness.

That's cute...LOL

My kids have favored graham crackers dunked in milk for a while now.

ETA: we do the fruit/veggie/cheese variety thing too, but the crackers in milk is one of the faves...didn't want to make it sound like that's all they get...LOL

Ds loves to have apple slices to dip in PB or his "fruit pies" which are the organic fruit/cereal bars from TJ's.
Sometimes we have little snack trays with a pinch of this and that...apples chunks, grapes, cheddar bunnies, raisins, etc.

Oh, that is so cute! Yesterday was my son's first day of K, and it turns out he had a blast, but he was a total grump (and starving!) when I picked him up!

Today, I'm prepared with a snack in the car!

Today's snack is roasted chickpeas (nice and crunchy and high protein)

other faves:

carrots, celery and cucumber sticks dipped in ranch or hummus

crackers and cheese

crackers and PB

apple slices

So funny, my oldest son also LOVES to get himself a spoonful of peanut butter.
He also likes half an avocado, some fruit & nuts, a juice popsicle, dumplings, rice/corn cakes, soy yogurt.

peanut butter spoons are an instant snack at our house. I will have to remember the spoon, water and relax time for the kids this year.

When I pick my dd up from preschool I always have a healthy snack in the car for the ride home. I've found that it makes all the difference for her to have something good to eat and some quiet time to relax as she transitions out of preschool mode.

When my "big kids" come home from school (2nd & 3rd grade this year) their favorite thing to have is the "snack tray". I fill it w/fruit, veggies, yogurt, organic cereal & crackers. Sometimes it will have a special theme, like all things they can dip in chocolate sauce. I'll often put out special cups, even if they are only drinking water or soy milk. They enjoy that a lot too.
