My DS (5) has just started saying that he doesn't like himself, and specifically he doesn't like his voice. This is all new, and usually comes out when he is tired or upset.
He did spend 2 years in speech therapy and loved it while he was there. That ended last spring. I can't seem to get him to express what he doesn'k like about his voice, and I fear that all along, he integrated a message that his talking and voice weren't good enough. Strange that it is coming out now though, months after the fact. I'm more concerned about comments that he doesn't like himself in general. I'm worried that I may have partially caused it by over-praising, etc.
So, I don't really know where to start with this. I'm looking for some good information on ths subject. I want to approach it in a way so as not to magnify a small problem , or to underestimate a bigger one.
Book suggestions, places to start, personal experiences all welcome!!!!

. Poor little guy. I can't reccomend any books off the top of my head, but just keep talking with him about it. Find out what he does like about himself, and play that up. That sort of thing.
