Dr. appt yesterday!

So, my EDD is in about 2.5 weeks- on 9/1- but at my appt yesterday whe told me that I am about 2 cm dialated- but that is it.
We did have an u/s- my Dr. wanted to give me one b/c my 1st was big (9.8lbs and 2 weeks early) and she wanted to see if she should induce me- even though I keep telling her NO!! Anyway- we did the u/s, and he is estimated to weigh about 7lb 2 oz now. Yikes! But, those predictions can be up to 9 oz off- so he could be almost 8 lbs or around 6.9lbs.

Anyway, I am a bit nervous- my midwife that works in the office along with the Dr. is on vacation next week! And, I really want her to deliver- so, if I do not have him TODAY then I am not doing anything till the 26th!! Thank GOD that I stopped work a week ago- I really dont have many obligations- I have been spending lots of q.t. with my 8.5 y.o. ds, and having a great time!

So, today I plan on doing lots and lots of stuff- and if no baby, then I am sitting around for the next week! LOL!

Wish me luck mama's- I dont want to go into labor next week at ALL!!
And Saturday is the full moon!! Ahhhh!!!

Here are some baby stay inside mama vibes...:

Good luck! I hope you have the careprovider you want for your birth.

I am at a loss to understand why it would matter if you have another big baby... you didn't mention being a vbac, so I'm assuming your first was vaginal? So.... if you could do it once, you can certainly do it again. Why consent to the sizing u/s if you were telling your dr you would not induce? I would NOT consent to another u/s, so they don't have anything to base scare tactics on. ACOG does NOT recommend u/s for assessing the size of the baby late in pregnancy, or for inducing for suspected big baby.

Yeah, I had the same issues with my babes and dr's.. My 2nd DS was my only full 40 wk babe and he was 11 lbs 1 oz... the next 2 I let them induce because they were "measuring" large, and at 38 wks they were both 9 lbs 5 oz... this time I read a little more, and learned a little more, and as soon as my dr brought up induction (at my very first appt at 7 wks!) I left and switched to the bith center, where, even though if they think a babe is going to be 10 lbs or over they can't deliver there, they have NEVER estimated a babe to be more than 9 lbs 15 oz I've had a big baby before, so why do they (dr's) think I can't do it again?
You've done it before, you have a 'proven pelvis', so no worries, it didn't shrink, you can do it again

That being said, here's some stay preggo vibes for ya ::

:

And don't let the dr check your dilation again, either, b/c she may "accidentally" break your water and then you wouldn't get your midwife at your birth.

Good point! I did not think of this. I have only 2 weeks to go, and next week will be the 2nd internal exam- BUT, i think i will tell her no way! LOL!
Thanks for the heads up! I did not think about that!

There is also surprise membrane stripping or stretching down there too, that was what my dr did with number one and did at every visit once I hit 37 weeks.

Actually, as a VBAC I wouldn't consent to the u/s or more internal exams, either. And definitely don't consent to an induction! Induction greatly increases the uterine rupture rate, not to mention increases your risk for another c/s. You are more likely to end up with a second c/s for an induction your body is not ready for, then you are because the baby is "too big." Position is a much bigger factor in how labor progresses than weight. Fat is squishy.

Check out spinningbabies.com for information on how to help get your baby positioned well. You could also see if you can find a chiropractor who does the Webster technique.

::: on your successful VBAC! You can do it!

I would never ever concent to an induction. I am completely aware of what pit does and I plan on staying FAR away from that. In fact, it is part of my birth plan NOT to have any pit what so ever.
I dont plan on going to the hospital till my contrax are at least 5 min apart and lasting at least one minute each, and I have a doula that will be here with me till we are ready to go. (she will also be at the hospital too)

Believe me, I have read TONS about VBAC's and I do not want to have another c-section at all! I am doing everything in my power to avoid one.

I have also been going to a chiropractor for the past few months, and everything seems to be in place and ok so far. We will see.

Thanks for all the good vibes!
Here's to a happy full moon tonight!

i cant believe an OB woudl recommend inducing a VBAC (im a VBAC..had 2 c/s' and then one VBAC 2.5 years ago). That recommendation would really scare me. As far as internal exams and u/s's, those are used to give them excuses for interventions. you could be 2 cms dialated for a month (believe me, i know...btdt).

Yeah, or dialated for several months...with DD I went into preterm labor at 27 weeks, dialated to 2, then didn't go on to deliver until 38 weeks!

If you're wanting a VBAC I'd probably not go into the hospital until the contractions were about 2 minutes apart, not 5. Otherwise they have much longer to try interventions on you.
