Empty sac at early u/s

Today was my 6w3d ultrasound. (I was on fertility treatment, so dates are exact). The u/s tech only saw two empty sacs, no fetal pole or yolk sac. I was hoping for a hb. Has anyone had this happen to them and then gone on to a healthy pregnancy? When did you first see the baby and hb on ultrasound? I'm freaking out a bit hear and don't get the official doctor's results until this afternoon. TIA

Hugs to you. I'm not really sure but I think even 8 weeks is early to hear a heartbeat so you aren't even there yet. I hope all is well and just try to keep in perspective that you are very early in your pregnancy.

Please hang in there. Do not make any decisions unless you start bleeding.

I had a pregnancy that they thought the fetus never devoloped and wanted to do a D&C. I declined. Bllod work was bad. But a week later.....there he was.

He is now a healthy 8 year old boy :

I am holding you in prayer right now.

Thank you. That gives me some hope. No b/w was done today, but it looked fine last week when I had it done. Unfortunately, I won't bleed until I'm off the progesterone, so it looks like I'll just have to see what the doc says. Oh how I wish I could get an instant response. I think a lot of my worry is based upon the concern the u/s tech showed when she couldn't find anything.

Well, the office called back. I have an appt in a couple of hours so the doc can scan me himself. : this morning was just a fluke and he'll be able to find something.

I saw a thread several weeks ago over on the main pregnancy board about this exact same thing. Lots of mamas replied saying this had happened to them and at scans a week or two later, the babies showed up right where they were supposed to be. I bet things will happen the same way for you. :

Thanks so much ladies!! I just got back from my 2nd appt & u/s today However, this time they saw a fetus in each sac and were even able to get heartbeats!!! I'm so happy I was assertive this time as it really reduced the time I had to wait and mourn. Apparently the tech this morning made a mistake and missed both fetuses. Now I know, if something is off I'm going to ask the other tech to come in a verify before I get so upset. At least the Dr apoligized.

Now, off to officially join the DDC!

Julia, much : for better news from the doctor. I agree with pp that even if the doc doesn't have better news then wait it out another couple of weeks. It is still sooo early. :

Edited because you posted your good news while I was posting.
Hooray!! Hooray!! : :

: YAY mama! I am so happy for you! Your first post didnt sound encouraging as I saw a sac and pole at 6w2d but i prayed when i read your post and then immediately scrolled down and saw such good news! I am so relieved to hear your bad news was wrong and was quickly replaced with such good news! 2 babies! how exciting mama....good luck!
guess we should all remember this as a great example of not losing hope if we hear something is wrong until we get a second opinion!
